I have just purchased a remington mtn rifle in 280. Attached to it is a bausch & lomb balvar 2.5 x 10x40. The scope was built about 1990. I will not receive the package for 8 to 10 days so havent seen it but am wondering what is the quality of this scope, and how do they compare to currently manufactured ones. I had to buy the package to get the rifle, and am wondering what would be the value of this scope. It is suppposed to be in very good condition with no marks on the body or the lens. I figured I paid about 200 for the scope. Would like your comments on the value and quality please. Thanks in advance. Bob

I've got 1.5-6x20mm on my primary deer rifle. I like it very much. I would compare it in quality to the Bushnell 3200 series which I own several of. The only thing I don't like about it, is that the whole eyepiece rotates to change the magnification. I paid $140 for it about 5 years ago. I'm sure you'll like it.

bausch and lomb quality

I recieved said rifle and scope and had it to the range today. I also have a leupold 2.5 to 10x40 Vari x 111. In my opinion the b & L balvar is slightly better in clarity than the vari X 111. I have not yet seen a VX111. It is slightly heavier, at 16 oz than the 13 oz leupold. Adjustments were precise. I appreciate all your comments. You were dead on the money. Thank you.
