i have a half dozen as new B&L scopes most are 3-9 some are marked balvar what might they be worth to sell,thanks glenn

Well the Balvar was the top of the line in its day, so compareable to the Elite 4200. They are a very well made scope and should be very saleable. $300.00 dollar range. FS

Wow, comparing the Balvar to an Elite 4200 is like camparing a 66 F100 to a 07 superduty, both good for their times, but comparable, not likely. Things change with time.

I've been very happy with my Balvar 1.5x6 finding comparable to the older Vari-X IIIs.

RMG do you happen to own a Balvar? These scopes athough a few years old are still very good quality optic and very comparable to todays 4200, maybe even more ruggedly built. FS

I have a Older Pair of B&L Nocks there EX have great lenses.

Is it a case where if there older there better ?

As the New B&L stuff is all Chinese isnt it ?

I bought a used B&L Balvar 1-6x20mm scope about 5 years ago from a shop for my M70 Compact and I'm very pleased with the optics and quality. I paid $150.

I believe that the old B&L stuff is superior to anything new that Bushnell makes in all aspects except for lens coatings. FWIW - dan

And these lens coatings today are are the main difference between a $300.00 scope and one costing $600.00+.

The old B&L scopes are great but in function they are no better than a Bushnell 3200. For values just watch e-Bay and you will see most of the B&L with internal adjustments sell for between $100.00 and $200.00. External adjustment scopes usually sell for under $50.00
