Posting this thread out of curiosity more than anything, but who else is into collecting bayonets? What particular types do you guys focus on? Personally I enjoy collecting AK bayonets, M1 Garand/M1 Carbine bayonets & associates post-war variations, and I’ve recenlty gotten into Mauser bayonets.

I have a small bayonet collection that I am trying to expand. I just find it difficult to do as the few examples for sale often cost as much as the rifles themselves, and you need to be very wary when you buy bayonets as some little things which can be hard to identify by photo can completely kill the value (such as the blade being sharpened). I don't know what it is but more bayonets seem messed with than the rifles themselves!

There is no specific type I collect, just ones that go with the rifles I have.

I've been collecting for about 15 yrs. mainly german pre ww1 to ww2 + british and commonwealth bayonets from different era's.But I've expanded my collection to include US,french + newer surplus bayonets such as the ak's if price is right. There's a limited amount of bayonets for us to collect from compared to the vast quantities in the States.I go to the local auctions + I usually get out bid by antique dealers for the common one's such as British ww2 spike bayonet's there willing to pay $30 each,I can go to gun show + buy for $10 - 15.I also buy from online auctions as long as there's good pic's,I keep an eye on exchange + shipping charges. In a couple of month's there should be alot of new Chinese ak bayonets coming in with the rifle's and see what price's are + buy a few if they are reasonable not the $100 plus people are asking for the few already here.
