I was in a gun store the other day and overheard one of the salesman talking to a customer that was buying a surplus SKS. He advised the new owner that if he intended on hunting with his SKS that he had better remove the bayonet as they were illegal on a hunting firearm (in Ontario) and were he to run into a CO, he wuold be in deep sh*t. Just wondering if this is correct? First I've heard of it.

For sure this isn't the first time that I've heard questionable advice given at a gunstore counter - lol. I figured as much but it did get me to wondering enough that I searched the MNR website and whatnot trying to find any mention of a bayonet. It seemed stupid, but I've learned that doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't law. There are lot's of stupid laws on the books after all.

affix bayonet and charge a moose

 I'd pay good money to see the first 15 seconds of that episode :D After the Darwin Candidate starts running towards the moose though, I think I'll look away.

As for the OP ... Glad it's not true ... I can't remove the bayonet from my "Enfield Nagant"

(the E-N is an inside joke for those that read my other thread)

Someone was poking fun at me the other day that I was being too fussy with the accuracy of some handloads and he says "thebigslide, by the time you're done, that rifle will be so deadly you'll just have to throw it at the deer." Maybe I should give up on handloading and see if Savage makes a bayonette.
