Bayonet markings

Too bad indeed.. You see the RFI's on the web for around $50US fairly often, certainly well below the English made originals..

The one I sent you was a MkII* bayonet with the squared off pommel. It was made during WW2 (1944 on that one) for the No.1MkIII* rifles India was making. The square pommel was a wartime expedient instead of machining nice contours on the pommel like on the MkII (no star) and 1907 bayonets.

The MkII bayonets were also used on the 2A1 rifle in 7.62 NATO.

Like most MkII*'s, your bayonet is DP marked as the Indians relegated to bayos with the cruder square pomels to drill status. The scabbard I sent you is a repro from IMA as it was missing the original scabbard when I got it.

Hope you like it! They aren't a common bayonet here in Canada, though they are easier to come by in the USA.
