Bayonet sks

Cant get the bayonet off my sks, the screw its stuck rigjt in there any ideas?

My bayonet (on a Russian Refurb) is held on by a screw with a slot head. The bottom of the screw was hit with a blade to prevent the screw from backing out...

File it down or on the way out the screw will strip the threads.

My Russian is staked in, impact driver as suggested.

Yes, the screw might be riveted. Try to dislodge the bayo from the screw. The bayo might have a hook shape end that rides around the screw, and if you find the correct spot, the bayo can pop off without having to remove the riveted screw (or pin). I saw a guy do this at a gun show a few years ago, but it was a sks-D with a spike bayo that had a screw/pin riveted into place.

Some of these things are quite old and dry, it takes a bit of patience to get them to budge. Sometimes all it takes is a drop of oil and a few taps, but an impact driver works well because it will not deform or damage the screw/bolt head. If there are more than one ways to do the job, its sometimes better to start with the least destructive methods.

have you heard they shoot better with the bayo extended? barrel harmonics designed around extended bayo, i have read several testimonials, havent tried it yet myself yet tho....

Thanks all i got it off today with the impact driver, now i can put on the new stock and start my build
