I was in an army surplus store and this guy had remake bayonets. He had m1 garand bayonets, so i asked if he had any m6 bayonets for my norinco ( not a shorty) and he said no but also said that the m1 garand and m14 used the same bayonet. Is he right? Or out to lunch. All the box said was m1 garand bayonet 1943 by U.S. SPEC, including m7 scabbard.

Will this fit my m305 norinco non-shorty?

You want the M6 bayonet with an M8A1 scabbord available from www.keepshooting.com . I have purchased several and all are brand new in oil wrap.

According to a book I have, "American Military Bayonets of the 20th Century" by Gary M. Cunningham, the M6 bayonet and M5A1 model of Garand bayonet are identical except for the guard, so I'm guessing their bayonet lugs themselves are fairly close. (I've only got my M6 to go by:redface:)

The difference between the guards being the M5A1 mounts to the Garand's gas cylinder lock screw by a stud, while the M6 uses the traditional ringed guard that goes around the flash hider.

So theoretically (if what the book says is right), if you had a way of getting the guard from an M6, you could swap it out on an M5A1. It would probably be a lot less of a headache to just try to find an M6 bayonet though, rather than tracking down just the guard.
