Well I just successfully ,got my Black Badge.

It was a long two days.. ha ha.

Also got a 32 stage course in.

Did all right, but need to work on my speed.

It sure was fun.

Anyway ,I'm sure looking forward to my next match.

Don't rush the speed part, it will come with time. Lots of new guys that get DQ'd do so because of trying to pick up the speed when the should be trying to get through the stage safely and getting their hits. Have fun at it and enjoy your matches.

Usually finger in trigger on reloads or when moving. Also breaking the 180.
It your gun ever jambs, stay calm and forget about the time. I've seen a lot from that

OK,thanks.
I was good with the 180.

I like to keep my trigger finger on the slide, but my instructor was very firm, that I keep it pointing about an inch from the slide.

Al though it was a bit awkward,I understood his point.

And I was very slow at the mag changes, because of always thinking about the trigger finger..:)

Thanks.
What division do you compete in?
And what gun are you running with?

:)

I'm a newbie as well to IPSC (started earlier in spring) and only have a few matches under my belt but been shooting for over 30yrs off an on. I just wish I'd done this LONG time ago! I have a good buddy to thank for encouraging me to do my BB etc. Right now I'm shooting a Shadow 2 in Production but I want to try out Standard (my excuse to buy a new pistol) and Classic next year.

Good advice with taking things slow and deliberate at the start with your focus on safety. It's the same advice I got when I shot my first couple matches. Once you start becoming very familiar and confident with the match routines, safety, skills (gun manipulation, stage strategy etc) and shooting your pistol, the speed and accuracy will come. I've been fortunate to have had awesome fellow shooters provide strategy tips and guidance during my shoots.

I picked up a laser training ammo cartridge from AliExpress along with iTarget and practiced my draw and DA first shot for 30-45mins a few times a week. I noticed my accuracy and speed started increasing the more I practiced and shot matches and I've seen myself move up in my overall placement, from near the bottom of the pack to the middle and now upper 3rd, then again, I could be shooting with more newbie shooters in each match giving me a false sense of improvement. Make no mistake, I'm still learning and have a long way to go too but I'm mostly there to have fun and if I place in the mid to upper on the leaderboard, it's a bonus.

As the ROs and my instructor keep telling me, "Have fun. Don't worry about placement for now. If you didn't get DQ'ed, you're doing fine."
