Likely most on this forum are familiar with the BBQ gun. For those that havent heard the term, it originated in Texas, where law enforcement folks would wear fancy, dressed up handguns to BBQ's, often with heavily tooled holsters just as flashy.

Guns would quite often be heavily engraved, maybe sport intricate inlays, and beautiful grips. Color case hardening and other high end finishes would fit the theme as well.

Although most guns would be custom, companies like Kimber produced factory versions as well.

Well, summer is waining, but lets see your best BBQ guns. The more over the top flashy the better. Show off the fancy leather as well.

I'll start off with my meager offerings.

First up is a S&W 100th Anniversary 1911. Gun is 1 of 250 made.

Next is a Browning Black Label 1911-380acp

In Texas, it's not just law enforcement. I'm surprised the term is known in Canada. It's not even known all across the US.

My BBQ gun isn't fancy, it's the coolest one I own. The one with the most character.

One of these days they'll finally let me post pictures and I can contribute to these threads.

I had a pair of nickel Rock Island 1911s that would probably have filled the bill (and one of them had real mother of pearl slabs on it), but now some other cgn member wows party goers with them. If I were to get invited to a bbq now I'd have to settle for my engraved presentation grade Colt with ivory.

Lets see some pictures. Colt has made some really nice presentation guns.

I learned about BBQ guns in an older paper published magazine of guns and ammo.
My ex BBQ gun was an SVI infinity 2011 in 40SW, sure was a conversation starter!

Just added a new Colt to the fold. A 380 Lady Colt. Won't have it in hand for a couple weeks, but here is a stock picture of one.

Looking at the RIA's, kinda wish I still had them!

I just got done explaining to her about shower guns and why it is so vital to have one and how everyone else is putting one in. She's never gonna believe I need a BBQ gun as well..

Just tell her it was free with the new pellet smoker you show up with. And if you survive, let me know, then i will give that story a try as well, lol.

Beautifully engraved masterpieces with god awful warning labels and manufacturing patent paragraphs lol

Have to agree, the warning labels really irk me. I mean what kind of an idiot doesn't know that guns fire. How did we survive before corporate lawyers started plastering warning labels on everything.
