I've got a wood-stocked Browning BBR (Browning Bolt Rifle) that I'd like to get into a good quality synthetic. That raises the question of whether or not a BBR would be a drop-fit (or reasonably close to a drop-fit) into a A-Bolt stock. Does anybody know?

Thx!

There are no synthetic stocks for a BBR that I have found. Richards Microfit Gunstocks makes a Laminate one for the BBR but the one I bought did not fit. According to a Saskatchewan gunsmith who makes stocks there was 4 different configurations of the BBR, He will only make a stock when you send in the action of your BBR.
There is some hype out there that you have to have a synthetic stock because the walnut ones will warp. Only one person I know that has had a walnut stock warp, that is because it sat outside his tent and it rained that night. Some synthetic stock are so cheep that they twist from the pressure from using a sling to steady the rifle, some expand of contract with temperature, some crack in the cold.
Tikka claims that their walnut stocks will not warp.
The best thing you can do is to keep your walnut stock sealed and that will keep any moisture out.
