BC bush carry question

Most likely there is always open season on something in BC depending on the region - check the Synopsis (between the wolves, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes, squarrels etc.) so I see no problem with carrying a shotgun and even a rifle.

I thought that the Free Miner Permit was the way to go until I read this from the BC Govt website;

An FMC does not authorize you:

to use a FMC for purposes other than activities directly related to mineral or placer exploration and mining;
to use your title for residential or recreational purposes;
to place any structure (cabin, greenhouse, garbage) on your title;
to conduct any mining activity (exploration, road building) without approval from a Regional Mines Office;
to hunt, fish or acquire or carry a firearm.

Perhaps there's more to it ??

I can't think of much more they could add.
Back in the day when most of the prospecting and wilderness mining was carried on in BC, a free miners certificate allowed the owner of it to shoot any game for food, whether the game was in season or not and whether or not it was an emergency situation for food.

Just call BC fish and wildlife and ask
I never have bother asking myself and just go with ether a rifle or shotgun and I don't know any one who would ask but if your worried about it make the call
I hope you strike it big this year but more importantly is being safe if your up in BC golden triangle or northern BC jade Fields Watch for rock and snow slides and fast running River , flooding ,unpredictable Extreme weather ,deer flys ,back bears and Grizly bears a CO is the last thing you shood worry about

Bear defence thread... and it’s not even Friday.

I live in Kelowna, BC. If I’m hiking into a more public lake, I put my rem 812 single shot in my backpack, taken down. It’s pistol gripped, 19” barrel and 27” overall assembled, but fits in my little pack. If I feel uncomfortable, I put it together and sling it. Better than a pointy stick.

If I need to 4x4 to my spot, I bring a better gun. My short gun lately is a hatsan escort 14”. It holds 5+1 2 3/4”. I put the first one or two 3” hornady coyote magnum 00 15 pellet copper plated mag buckshot and the last few 2 3/4” or 3” slugs. I haven’t shot anything with buckshot before, but 15 pellets going fast probably does ok and increases chances of hitting something moving fast.

I also carry my 1895 45/70 with 480gr hard cast flat points at 1650-1700 sometimes. Everything I’ve ever shot with those died pretty quickly. They core a 1.5” hole right through pretty much anything.

Moral of the story... I usually have my hunting licence anyways, but I carry a defensive gun either way when I’m out. Sometimes I’m the only guy in the group that brought a gun. Those days, even the liberals like it.

So I'm going to be spending a lot of time cruising remote parts of BC this year and I recall hearing something years ago about BC hunting regs interfering with carrying a non restricted rifle out of season and without a hunting license. Any truth to this? Never really spent much time in BC and don't feel like running into problems if I don't have to.

Schedule C species are year-long, no bag limit, no license, species. Carry and have fun.
