BC consultation for Grizzly hunting future

Ardent/Suther, thanks for the info. That is very useful to hear and counteracts the barrage of misinformation from the anti-hunting "usual suspects". Which bands support the hunt? I'd like to have some specific examples to counteract the misinformed arguments of a few people.

So your answer is to throw a certain demographic of hunters under the bus? Maybe 20 years down the road, all hunting will be considered a bloodsport and only target shooting will be allowed. What would you say to that? You certainly couldn't complain about the IPSC crowd not coming on side.
Face the facts, no one needs to hunt to survive in this day and age. Anything involving a firearm is a sport. There is no country in the world I know where firearms enthusiasts are so divided. It's really pathetic.

there is more than one country that come to my mind about firearms enthusiasts ... Uk, Australia, France and there is more ...

even not that the paradise i hope we can be we are still better here ... for how long that is a different question and story ..

Well done and thanks Jay, they need to hear from folks outside too.

The mid coast timber supply area was erroneously linked on this site by another knowledgeable member accidentally as being the previous name for the great bear rainforest. It would be nice if that was the case but the eco folks had a much greater vision, the mid coast timber supply area is one small pocket (though geographically large) of a much, much broader area of the coast designated the great bear. The entire coast and up in behind the Alaska panhandle from halfway up Vancouver Island is the great bear now. Literally almost the entire coast of B.C., not just a mid coast pocket, I'm north of the mid coast timber supply area anyhow. Yes if the Liberals regain power, we can only hope, there is a very good chance of a reversal. The coast will be harder depending how much paperwork the NDP manages to throw on it as a "conservancy".

Hmmm. I never considered the possibility that the hunt could be reinstated by the Libs. Considering how unpopular it polls, I would have expected the Liberals wouldn't be willing to touch it.

The hunt is ending. I don't believe there is anything we can do or say that will change that. Even if the Libs might change it, I don't see how telling the NDP they shouldn't end it is going to make any difference. So in light of that, I am trying to limit the extent of the ban. If you have a better idea of how we can limit the extent of the ban I'm all ears, but saying I'm throwing people under the bus doesn't help. If anything, the bus is already driving over everyone and I'm trying to pull some of them free...

This whole thing is weighing on me quite a bit, and I'm feeling a bit lost. In my heart I know the hunt is ending. And I know it's ending for the wrong reasons. I want to simply oppose the ban outright - and I do - but I don't see how that gets us anywhere with an NDP govt that has promised to end it...
