Just switched to another shooting club. Wondering do I need to call CFO to get information updated (I have restricted)? I am living in BC. Thanks!

You don't need to, but it would be a good idea.

While you are obligated to notify them of any change in your address, you do not necessarily have to inform them of your new club membership (because the new club will do that). Having said that, if your old club membership has ended (or will end), your long-term ATT might be invalidated automatically.

Your action (of contacting them yourself) will ensure that you maintain, continuously, the long-term ATT that you will need to stay in compliance with the law.

The new club will do all that after you do the required shoots, and they will get you your new ATT, also your old club will be telling them you are no longer a member and thus they are not responasble for getting your ATT, you only need to tell the CFP if you move,. case in point there are a few clubs around me, and if i decise to join another, I need not need to tell them as I am not moving. You could stayt a member of your own club till you get the required shoots required by the new club out of the way, that way you can during that time period be able to transp[ort your restricted to the range etc.

BC does not have "required" shoots. Nor do the clubs act on behalf of you to get your ATT. This is all the individuals responsibility. However i do not believe you need to call CFO to tell them. If you do another restricted transfer, they may ask you, and you could tell them then.

No i dont think you do, as any BC ATT says good for ANY approved range in BC/yukon. If he is a member of an approved range, then id say he is GTG.

This is exactly why I was wondering. Anyway just left a message to CFO and will see if they will call me back....

You are right (hate to admit it ;)), I checked my ATT and he has to be a member of an approved club, the ATT is for all ranges in BC/Yukon.

I shoot at ranges other than my own more often than I shoot at my own. I could technically call one of the other ranges my primary range. I never called the CFO for anything. I am a member in good standing at one range, and a legal "guest" at other ranges. Its written right there on my ATT that its Ok. The reason they ask for the name of your range it to ensure you are a member at a range to aquire your ATT. And for that matter, you dont even have to be a member of a "range" you can be a member of a "club" that doesnt even have a shooting facility. I know a few guys that have that membership and they got their ATT's just fine.

I dunno about BC, but I had my LTATT retracted by the AB CFO because I wasn't a member of a range, just a club. They issued and mailed out my LTATT, then called me 3 days later to say that they had made a mistake.

My options were to join a range ASAP or lose my ATT.

That's a load of HORSESH!T as far as I am concerned, but I couldn't argue...

Anyone else had this problem?

BTW, I am a member in good standing of IDPA and ATHL (the local IDPA chapter here). When I first contacted the CFO, they said no problem and issued my ATT. Then they called back and said that because neither had a valid address to an approved range in Alberta, I was SOL.

The guy will have to show them proof of his new membership when he re-applies for his ATT, but if he has a new membership I am assuming he is still a member at the old one till it expires. Once that one expires, or his ATT runs out he should be just fine.

It depends on how your ATT is worded as many others have already said.

However from my POV once again this is yet more PROOF that the complete farce of ATT's NEED TO BE ELIMINATED.. the RPAL should already include that by definition.

Such complete BS having to have both...:mad::mad::mad::mad:

To quote another member:

Have u ever tried leaving your house with restricteds with no ATT? It is impossible! I just tried! Its like some invisible force has been erected around my house stopping me from leaving! I put the gun case down and then I could walk out the door just fine! Its amazing! Until now I would have said ATT's are B.S. But I now know they are a useful tool for saving lives, just like the registry!(Insert Sarcasm)

You don't need to call the CFO, but they will require a copy of your membership for the new club/ range when you renew your ATT.

Just went throughout the same issue...

Received a callback from CFO and the nice lady told me that I don't have to do anything, including notify them, about the changing of my club. Case closed. Thanks all for the answers.
