Bc hunter charged with assault at illegal First Nations blockade

Well..i can now report that all charges against me have been dropped!!! The second charge of uttering threats to burn was a little bit tricky. I did not knowingly utter a threat. I was trying to explain to the camera man the levels of force I could use to go thru this illegal road block. My lawyer, however, could not guarantee that I would be acquitted if it went to trial. He recommended I go by "alternative" measures. He had worked hard to convince crown to do this.
I have too much to lose to risk a conviction. If convicted it could affect my Private Investigators license, my bailiff license, my P.A.L and my ability to cross the US border. (I love riding my harley in the southern States)
I spoke to some close confidants who said it's a no brainer, too much to risk, take the "alternative measures" route. So I did. I met with a probation officer and we worked out a plan that I would do 5 hours of community service and the charge would be dropped. That's right...5 fricken hours!!! So I walked dogs at the animal shelter.
Charges are now gone!!! What a ****ing joke the system has become.
Now I will go on the offensive with my complaint against the RCMP and work to have the Native charged who blocked my truck.
Thanks to all who supported me and for the financial contributions that paid all of my lawyer bills to date.

Is there any grounds to sue the band for organizing an illegal blockade? None of those individuals have anything to lose. But the band has money. Maybe if you went after them it may change things for the future.

I'm not a lawyer or any kind of legal expert. Just what I was thinking.

We need more people willing to do the right thing to fight this kind of crap. Natives won again, in this case.

I just love it when these "activists" jump in front of a moving vehicle and then state, "You're assaulting me!". Uh, NO, you're assaulting yourself dumb arse! Start charging these mental midgets and protect those people who want to peacefully go about their business.

I like this part the best. Hopefully he can get some traction with the complaint, not holding my breath though for reasons already discussed.

They have road blocks on every road around Dease Lake and won't allow anyone in those hunting zone even though you have tags for it.

I wonder if it's time British Columbia has it's own police force and bewt the RCMP back to
Awwtitwah?

Less Federal decisions being made in our .............. OUR.......... province.

That's a misconception. RCMP in municipalities and provinces get their directions from the municipalities and province they are in.

What amazes me is the comments where FN people state that you can't be racist towards white people?

I am totally gobsmacked that someone can be so entrenched in their own bitterness that they think they are allowed to be abusive towards people, but they're not racist, whereas when you do it to them, you are racist.
