BC LEH draw has been done and the results are out.

Being a new hunter makes no difference in the draw.


I'm skunked too. Had a moose draw last year and have had various other draws for goat, sheep, moose and Rosie over the last 25 years.

I stopped entering this year..the whole system is rigged..
And at the whim of the sitting government
the dippers and the greens hate hunting ,shooting, guns...fishing..just about all things sportsman related
 
I quit a few years back for good reason.
Rigged is right.
Go buy a lotto, better chances.

Dippers are buying into this to take away from the real hunters.

Make it fair, must have a hunting licence and a species tag you're
lucking out for.

You guys oughta spend less time at the pot dispensary.
 
yup we boycotted the draw along with 5 other hunter friends so that's 7 more chances for everyone else.
theoretically it should mean better odds for others but the whole thing is a sham..... 6sumthin dollars a throw and it's going into general revenue

never using the LEH system again and glad I chose to start boycotting it this year.
 
I heard that B.C. has no priority system built into the draw process like Alberta does in its draws.
Is that true? Is the B.C. draw completely random each year?

A group of us here put in for antlered mule deer in 406 and with our current priority we are 50-50 to get it but if not, next year we will for sure if the tags given out stay the same. Having increasing priority for hunters that haven't been drawn over the years is the fair way to do it in my opinion.

I have heard there is some sort of priority system but I don't believe a word of it.

If there is priority it would not be possible for a hunting buddy to get an antlerless mule deer draw 3 years in a row in the same zone......

It's not a big mystery. You don't have to have "heard " there is a priority system. It is an enhanced odds system and deer draws are not included in the enhanced odds system. It is clearly stated on page 2 of the LEH guide.

For hunters who have not won an LEH
authorization recently, enhanced odds increase
their chances by reducing the chances of those
who have been successful in recent years.

If you were successful in receiving an LEH
authorization for any species, except deer
and black bear, your odds will be reduced for
that species.

If you were successful for elk in
Regions 1 or 2 or moose anywhere in the
province, your odds are reduced by 66% for 3
years for that species. If you were successful
for any other species, except deer, your odds
are reduced by 50% for one year.

If there is one thing I have learned about the LEH in BC, it is that the vast majority of LEH applicants have absolutely no idea how the system works. These same people seem to have some very strange ideas about how the odds work, and how it should "even out" over the years.

Thx.... that would have required me to read more than the first paragraph of that section of the guide. ;) :redface:
 
I didn't even apply, I have reduced odds for goat and moose and the cow elk odds are horrible. Seems a waste of money until I'm out of the reduced odds penalty box.
 
That is strange why deer draws are not included in B.C.'s enhanced odds system? The system is already in place so why not just apply it to all draws and then it is more equitable sharing of the allotted tags....:confused:
