BC Moose hunt options...

Hunting around PG had allways bin crazy evan 40 years a go
In PG just about every one hunts that's a lot locals hunters your competing with
I now nothing about huntig south of PG if It was me I would head north of PG and do a combo hunt for elk deer and moose

For a goodly number of years prior to forty years ago, the area around PG was crawling with hunters in moose season. (No elk around PG until end of sixties, or later.)
In the later 1950s a very popular hunting area was the Blackwater road area. In the early 1960s I have seen vehicles almost bumper to bumper, before daylight, on opening morning of moose hunting, heading down the Blackwater road.

I get a chuckle on CGN so many guys claim to Hike Deep in the bush I work in the bush never see a Hunter far from there truck or ATV

It was always like that. From my years of flying I used to see moose, including bulls, feeding regularly in little sloughs throughout the entire fall, sometimes about a half mile from a vehicle road.
Also, I flew foresters in to remote areas where they did a lot of forest survey work. At that time they had to measure with a two chain length of steel tape, one pulling the tape and the other, who was marking the end of the tape when it came to him, was supposed to holler out, "chain." But that word got corrupted to something like yup, or more likely, HEP.
Anyway, for about a month in the fall that regularly brought in bull moose that sometimes walked all over their tape, and sometimes they could hardly chase them away!

We have a couple spots we call moose traps ther not really traps but funnals that push the moose in to a narrow ravines ther always off the road sum of the best hunting I have seen is in the moose traps it's a lot of work getting moose out we use them as a last resort no ATV or fancy pickups on a moose trap We just use old fashion packboards and smoke all are moose meat
If a guy is willing to do the work the moose is out there

I hate seeing the new hunters on hear getting sent down the Garden path being told that thay need to spend big bucks to go hunting it's just not true hard work wins over $ every time
Having money to burn on equipment and float planes and Hunting guides is nice but in no way does it give you a advantage
If a guy can't afford the Latest and gratis go deeper and work for it I know that was the way us old guys wear brought up it worked wen we wear young and it will still work

the little road between Haines in Ak and Haines Junction in Yukon is also very crowded those days (during the fall season) the BCers are in huge numbers ...

I've been driving on Haines Road several times during hunting season and have not discovered any BCers so far. Wouldn't they need a guide or a special resident's guiding license buddy to hunt moose anyway?
