Bc spca

Have to admit I was not aware of the BC SPCA shortcomings as mentioned by some previous posters. Just figured they had the organization to set up temporary shelters, foster homes etc in this time of very dire need. The fact remains there is a crisis that is accelerating every day. Woke up to heavy rain here north of Smithers today. We are in very good shape compared to the rest of the province. ACP has some good suggestions and we all need to pay attention and help out any way possible. This is worse than the Kelowna fires in 2003 which is saying something. Good luck to those in the line of fire.

Lots of other agencies and volunteers out there helping. Disasters are a god send to charities, cause the stimulate donations, which arrive way too late to be of any actual use, but go in the kitty anyway. Way better would be some labor and shelter offers to the people actually on the ground to do something.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.(Adam Savage)
I dont know where you figure that ''the Monies generated during an actual disaster arrive way to late to be of any actual use'' when in fact they are specifically being asked for for this specific un-natural event in Central BC.

If one doesnt like the SPCA or has an issue with the Sally Anne thats fine, but it does no good slagging them when they are actually doing some good and again the ''good'' is dependent on ones feelings towards the societies involved.

At least they are contributing to the affected communities unlike the scammers and thugs who are sneaking in and ripping people off with no shame at all.

As for donating labour this isnt the time to head into those zones unless one is an experienced fire fighter or first responder or a heavy equipment operator and likely if that is the case then they already have gotten the call to come and help otherwise if one heads into the area at this time you will be another body that has to be accounted for.

I was in Canmore for the Flood 2013 and as a First Responder ( Marine Side ) I was brushed off.
They didnt even point me in the direction of someone in need of two hands and legs and a strong back willing and able to shovel sand and stack sandbags.

I had to go to the Safeway and buy tinned goods and water for the general donation box at the front entrance and while on my way there I spent a couple hours helping a couple guys filling their vehicles with filled sandbags they didnt care I was a Union Thug or a smartassed BCer either.

Stay home and open ones wallet or just stay home is my advice/opinion.
