Hey guys, just wondering where would a good source be to get 308 barrels for the BCL. looking for a good barrel, want to be able to shoot almost as good as a bolt out to 800m

You have high expectations, then you need the very best otherwise you will be very disappointed therefore: proof research, krieger

Others will chime in their low budget alternatives, but really you'll be wasting your time on CGN folk stories

Okay lets say I lower my expectations, because from what I can tell those barrels are going to have to be imported and made to order, and I'd probably have to send them my bolt for it to be headspaced

lets say 1 moa out to 500 or something?

I'm hearing stories of 4 moa at 100m with factory barrel so I'm hoping to get something better than that lol

I just ordered a fulton armory lightweight barrel along with the fulton hp BCG.

They have no problems sending the stuff to the importer.

Fulton has two barrels no? Criterion and Kreiger. Kreiger is double the price but you can get 5R rifling, which I would prefer. but its practically a 800$+ barrel without a bolt

You don't need a $800 Krieger to shoot 1 MOA, my factory gun did that with Federal GMM, even though from what I've seen it's not the norm. Try yours first before you throw in the towel.

This a 102 at 800 meters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8ck7bNnkeg

I saw that video a while ago, and yes its a factory gun, I'm just preparing for worst case scenario.

Honestly if it doesnt shoot 1 moa I might just send it back to BCL, I wonder what that warranty covers. the reports of 4 moa at 100 is horrible, you might as well buy a chimp from the zoo, bring it to the range, and have it sh!t in its hand and throw it at your targets lol

Also Direwolf your post says #### instead of whatever company you were going to post

Wow I'm not even that bad of a shot with mine. That's impressive.

168 or 175 SMK GMM? debating between federal with SMK or Hornady match. what would be best to reload with? probably going to reload SMKs, thinking heavier than 175gr might be better idk. any experience /thoughts?

Mine liked 168 Federal GMM, others reported very good groups with it as well, but then some guys didn't have as good of luck. Hornady Match was like 1.5 - 2 MOA, can't remember the weight but I believe they were 165's .... It's in my old posts along with pics of my groups. Hunting loads seemed to hover around 2 MOA. However, I've since installed the Criterion barrel that Dilligaf mentioned but haven't shot it for accuracy yet. There are reports on other AR10 forums of this Criterion being a very accurate barrel so I'm pretty confident it will shoot well, but the proof is in the pudding. I mainly switched to get more consistent accuracy between loads and take some weight off the gun.

It's my thinking that either A) the factory barrels are not of consistent quality or B) that they are temp sensitive and my shooting rhythm keeps the barrel temp where it needs to be. Considering it comes from NEA/BCL and the accuracy testing that was done on here a few months back, I'm leaning towards it being the barrels being a bit inconsistent in quality. Some had deeper fluting than others right off the bat.

1moa doesnt need a distance in the unit of measure. it is an angle of an arc, therefore minute of angle
for example take a 1 moa rifle:
at 100 yards = 1 inch group, that same rifle should shoot 5 inches at 500 yards

so when you say shoot 1 moa out to 500 yards it kinda sounds silly

Now that being said semi autos that shoot 1 moa are rare in their factory configurations shooting factory ammo, unless they were built by factory specifically as such witha specific ammo in mind. Many things cone into play but mostly barrel, chamber, bolt, optics, etc.
Also anything attached at the end of that barrel will play funny tricks on accuracy as well.

Dont believe all the fairy tales on CGN, some here do know Im a fairly decent shot, and shooting my noveske under 1 moa repeatedly is difficult although the rifle can do 0.75moa.

Ask yourself, shooting a proven semi auto rig, have you ever shot under 1 moa? If not then why does it matter?

2 moa for a semi auto rifle shooting factory is a pretty damn good rifle in my book, maybe you should talk to the ones who know instead of the fishing stories here!

ah well hopefully mines shoots gmm at 1 moa or better.

I dont wanna buy another barrel and have it do 2 moa lol

then proof research or krieger will deliver what you seek, given you find the load it likes.

criterion is built in the same factory as krieger, maybe you could get lucky
