BCL 102 catastrophic failure

Little off topic but is a UBR compatible with the standard buffer and spring? I thought the BCL had the AAR-10 length tube and standard buffer not the DPMS carbine buffer/spring?

The UBR buffer tube is 5 mm deeper then the stock BCL tube. The spacer Magpul provides is 30 mm long. I did not think 5 mm would make a difference.

Looks like the gen 2 is compatible with the longer system, unlike the gen 1 I have on my stag which needed the short buffer, which is awesome. Guess I know which stock I’ll be buying next!

I'm the one who had three KBs. All with factory ammo, though I'm not confident any were the ammunition's fault.
Plenty of kabooms are due to defective factory ammo.

Federal alone has grenaded plenty of guns.

Sub 2k blew up right around the announcement of their recall, fourth round through it was the last. The X-95 is still undetermined and likely never will be. That time it possibly was the ammunition which was American Eagle "62" grain FMJ.

Upon inspection of the ammo I found they were actually loaded with 55grn FMJ and had a whopping 30 grains of ball powder inside. Federal claims that aside from a printing error the ammo was fine. Since IWI came through and replaced my gun for me I just dropped it. The Mini-14 was an out of battery issue due to a very worn out rifle. Keep in mind I shoot much, much more than most people so there is a statistical element at play in my case.

Look at the photo of the face of the cartridge case and the primer. The primer is seated normally, and shows no sign of excessive pressure.
If the round had fired with the breech unlocked, the primer would be either protruding or gone.
It very much looks as if a defective case failed.

so you think it ruptured in the chamber with the bolt closed?
might explain the rolled in case wall..... if the bullet had not yet left the barrel the case head rupture might have just created enough vacuum to implode the case like that..... maybe?
that's the part that still stumps me.

Some guys find blown primers in their chamber after the primer blows out of the case from a high pressure load. Everything will follow the path of least resistance when you are talking 60 000psi. Its no different when this piece of brass was forced out of the chamber and killed the action on its way out. He stated he found it on the ground.

I read all his posts and that what was left of the case was found on the ground, ejected from the action. He stated he collected the brass from the day and all spent cases were accounted for. He also showed the two unfired rounds that stove piped. What he did not show or say is that any of the cases are missing a primer, fired or not. So I am not assuming a primer loose in the action or chamber is the culprit. It's something else. Wonder what inside the barrel extension and chamber throat look like

im going for un trimmed brass... op confirmed he had brass over max OAL spec...in the range that caused the blow out on my gun sight scout.
