BCL-102 Scope options

Thanks for the inut guys, I live in the middle of nowhere so don't get a chance to handle anything unless I order it. Heading to Vancouver for a course for the next week so will try to get into a couple stores and fondle some.

Get them to let you take them outside into natural light and look at things 300+ yards away, all scopes look good at 25 yards under fluorescent lights in a bright store.
My Bushnell Elite 6500 was a perfect example of this and why I'll never buy Bushnell again.

I'm running the strike eagal 1x8 it works good but the lack of a thin cross hair dose not lend it self to bench shooting. I'm using it for hunting this year and with the 8x and the dot I think 250yd or so is as far as I feel comfortable taking a shot at. Unless it's a perfect situation where I have all the time in the world.

Occasionally you can pickup a Sightron STAC 3-16X for $500 from EE - thats what I would be looking at as they are amazing glass for the cash

I picked up a Vortex Diamondback 3-9 for my BCL102.
Kind of surprised by the number of people who are using Strike Eagles and such, all of the ads I see for them indicate they have a 5.56 BDC reticle. But maybe I missed something.

They have a conversion for the 7.62

How do you guys feel about the strike eagles limited magnification with this rifle? It's not like it would be used for cqb. I was leaning more to a 3-15 or 4-12 or something kinda like a dmr without the marksmen part hahaha

I went with a Steiner GS3 3-15x50mm I found it on the EE it has the BDC and a very fine cross hair. Some guys’s reasoning for something like a strike Eagle has to be weight. This scope weighs much more than a 1-8

My Vortex HS-T 6-24x50 is going on mine in a Pepr mount, putting a Micro RDS on as well for bush pushing, 50 yards and in.

Why no CQB... the BCL is pretty much my do everything rifle. from the end of the muzzle to 300 yards hunting. 1-8 all the way.

I shoot targets and game from about 30-300 yards, from standing, sitting, and a bench. Personally I'd take my 4-12 x 50mm Zeiss over my 1-8 Primary Arms because the Zeiss is only 17.5 oz (a Strike Eagle is 16.5 oz) and when you get out past 100 or are precision target shooting I really like the 12X a lot more than the 8X. In low light the 50 mm objective seems about twice as bright and usable for much later in the day. I also prefer the big eyebox on the Zeiss, at 4 power you have a huge window that works where as the Primary Arms has a pretty tight eyebox. Your mileage may vary... there's a lot of good optics out there and it's hard to compare until you've put them through their paces out where you shoot.

Be hard to handle one before buying but the SWFA SS series are built like tanks, have excellent tracking and the reticles are equal to Sightrons LRMOA.

The fixed power series can take a beating with the lack of variable power mechanisms inside and the clarity is surprisingly good!

I traded in my Sightron S3 6-24 LRMOA for a fixed 20X SWFA MOAQuad because I just kept my S3 on 24x anyway.

I also have a fixed 10X for my m14 and one for my CZ452 varmint.

With the dollar you should be able to pick up a 10x, 12x, 16x or 20x at your budget shipped to your door.

I went with a SWFA fixed 10X on my 102.

BTW, who is shipping SWFA here to Canada, I want to pick up another, or few.

SWFA is not dealing with Canadians period ! They do not have a distributor up here and all the attempts to make them available have failed (IRG tried last year). I know they are good scopes.. especially the early 10x

So ended up in Reliable Gun in Vancouver yesterday and had a look at the Nikon P-308. Will try it when the 102 shows up and if I'm not happy with it I will be grabbing a Sightron s-TAC. Will probably grab a Sightron anyways for one of my other builds before long. Look like a nice unit. Thanks for the input guys
