BCL 102 stripped receiver set thread

OK, that makes me feel better. The more I think about it, it's probably due to the extra thickness of from the cerakote. Was reading on a few forums yesterday that a lot of folks experience the very same thing after having their uppers cerakoted. I'm used to building on anodized ar15 uppers where the barrel nut threads on easy peazy...much just take a wire brush to the threads and clean them up a bit. Other than that the receiver set looks great. No bubbles in the coating and nice machining.
 
Are the unpainted stripped receiver sets Type III hard coat anodized or unfinished machined aluminum?

Are the black stripped sets just cerakote painted and not anodized?

None of the receivers are hard coat anodized, just cerakoted or if you asked for it, raw aluminum.
 
How did people secure the bolt catch? From first look it seems as if you will never get the roll pin out if you use one since there is only a hole on one side. The hole is not threaded either.

I also assume you use both plungers for the ambi bolt release?

Starting to hope that manual comes out soon.
 
it is hard to get it off, hold on to hand guard with barrel down, find something soft so it won't damage the muzzle, use the rifle to strike the muzzle brake against something soft in downward motion. i used a piece of wood, came off after a couple of taps

I'm still scratching my head and wondering WTF BCL is thinking by not supplying an owners manual with a firearm they are selling.

The main reason manufacturers supply owners manuals is to limit potential liability. I wouldn't want to be BCL if, heaven forbid, someone accidentally got hurt using their product and they get sued because they never supplied the customer with a manual properly instructing them on how to safely use it. Hopefully something like this never happens. But if I were BCL I'd prioritize making sure my a$$ was covered.

Look at every owners manual out there. There is very little in it about the actual product. It's 95% full of information on proper handling and safe use.

Owners manuals are only provided for the purpose of limiting liability.

I don't know what BCL is thinking f:P:

An owners manual should have been their FIRST priority. I would never let one out the door without one.

This decision is deserving of a few more of these: f:P:f:P:f:P:f:P:f:P:

Don't use roll pins for the bolt catch! You will need the two set screws. One goes on the right side of the receiver top to secure the proprietary bolt release on the right and the other threads in where the bolt catch roll pin should go. That should be threaded, look again if it's not send it back to bcl.

Thanks for that. It is actually threaded but I am unable to get the screw in. It might need to be re-tapped.
 
We're sending everyone out extra screws. When they packaged them up at the store we sent two of the same screw out. Keep the ones you have and we'll have others ones on the way next week. My apologies for the mix up.

Ah Ok. That solves that mystery. I got two screws for the right side bolt release. Thanks for clearing that up Ryan. And I already have the shipping notification.

We're starting to ship the replacement screws on Monday...I don't have them here yet...that might have been for the first set we sent out.
