BCL 102 stripped receiver set thread

It appears they are using an Armalite BCG.

The firing pin retaining pin is like that of an Armalite, as is the firing pin. That being spring loaded.

The Brownells BCG based upon a DPMS gen 1 BCG fit fine with the stock bbl from BCL, but I did not do any firing with it.

It wouldn't work with the Criterion bbl so I went back to the stock BCG and it is fine.

I picked up an extra BCL BCG so I can do some fooling around with it.

Am thinking of a new faxon bcg and barrel which should fit but not sure if I'm gonna run into trouble. Where did you get the extra bcl bcg?

Thanks for the info bud, originally I had the 308 version and that was a no go...I have that phase 5 ar-15 ebr ordered for my slr too, i’ll have to rob it and try it in my gen 1,

Can you confirm back after testing and confirm if compatible with the Gen 1.

Thanks

Well updated my order since the BO stuff still hadn't come in. Got the SLR gas block instead and said screw it and got a PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube with my JP Silent spring...lol...

I have done enough reading to be confident as long as you are using matched parts you will be good. Lots of reports of mixing ar10 barrels with dpms bcg's and vice versa. Just have to check once installed.

Just a heads up, A Armoury is a distributor for fulton armoury and SLR, you can order parts directly from them. It's cheaper than ordering from the manufacturer and paying export fees.

I know this is a stripped receiver thread but damn I feel that buffer tube would actually match the stock 102 barrel nicely. Not a fan of the stock buffer tube/back plate as it looks like they were spray painted high gloss black and don't look like they belong on the rifle now that I've seen it in person. I predict I will be poaching more of DILLI's product ideas

Just a heads up regarding PWS buffer tubes. I use them on a lot of my AR15 rifles and they are great. Especially with the QR attachments on the back (unlike the one above). But.... I tried to change my DPMS GII buffer tube for one of my PWS ones and it looked great etc. But didn't work!!! The internal dimension or something was off. The BCG couldn't go back far enough to lock back with a mag. I ended up going back to the stock Buffer tube on the GII and added a single point QR at the back.

The GII uses a regular length carbine buffer tube, although it is a commercial version and not milspec. However internally the dimensions should be the same. It should have been an easy swap with the factory buffer tube. As I mentioned, it didn't work. FYI.

Well thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately my order has already shipped...lol...

Ha well, Hopefully it works, If not I guess ill have to use a standard tube like a normal person :-(

Have there been any headspace issues with using the Brownells BCG with the factory barrel? If I decide to upgrade to an aftermarket barrel which would work best with the Brownells BCG? Im pretty new with this so I want to be sure before I spend the $$.

I too am curious which barrels work well with the brownells BCG.

Is the bcl bcg the same dimensions as the brownells/dpms patter bcgs? Wouldn't it be nice if bcl gave us this information, who knows if they even know and are just following this thread to figure it out themselves.

You can add the JP Silent Capture 308 buffer to the "It works" list.

In fact the buffer will allow you to:

1. Use a standard Rifle length buffer tube
2. Use a standard carbine length buffer tube
3. Use the OEM A5 length buffer tube (with some minor modification to the included spacer)

Prereq is an adjustable gas block.

Which method did you use?

Did you mod the spacer?

I can add that the Faxon Big Gunner 6.5CM barrel I got from CTCS works well with the stock BCG, and is showing some promise with handloads. Currently at 1.33"@100m without much tuning. An adjustable gas block is a requirement for this setup....as she's way overgassed otherwise.

with the factory bcl stock extension tube, or did you install a different extension tube?

Rifle length buffer tube was installed.

With the OEM (A5 length) buffer tube you would need to cut the spacer so that the buffer aligns with the end of the tube.

With a carbine buffer tube .... just do not use the spacer. JP Silent Capture Buffer only is installed.

Can you direct me to which rifle length buffer tube you purchased and from where?
