Shooting a bear with a 7.62x39 isnt a good idea lol. Which is what a 9 inch .308 essentially is in terms of performance. Id either get the longer version and pray or use a short barreled shotgun and not worry about it. This is a cool gun, but not for shooting large animals.

Nothing is perfect and compromises are inevitable when it comes to size and weight.
In my opinion it's less the tool and more the operator's skill and mindset that matters, but that's like just my opinion and for perspective I'd prefer a glock 20 if I lived in a free country.

I don’t know what kind of hunting you do but I killed a nuisance bear with a 4 inch 44mag . I hold an ATC but not for wilderness carry .

Interesting anecdote but doesn't really have any bearing on my statement. I didn't say you cant kill a bear by shooting it with a 7.62x39, i said it's not a good idea lol. Different situation also. Either way you do you.
