Hi all enthusiasts and thinkers.
I decided to replace my stock BCL 102 barrel with a nice McGowen precision barrel as well as a new toolcraft high pressure bolt bought second hand off the forum. Last night after installing the new ar-10 rifle length gas tube onto the barrel/upper reciever I was unable to get the bolt into the upper reciever. After a few forward taps of the bolt I noticed the top half of the gas key hits the bottom half of the gas tube.

Anyone have this problem before? I am stumped

I wonder if it got bent cause it's too long? With the new barrel you likely need a regular ar15 rifle length gas tube. the tube should be about in the middle of the cam lock cutout in the upper

DPMS and Armalite pattern barrels use slightly different length gas tubes....might have something to do with it.

I'm thinking so too.

I suspect he has an Armalite length gas tube but his new barrel uses the standard AR15 length tube. The Armalite tube is 1/4" longer. Perhaps he bent the longer gas tube when he closed the bolt?

Either way it is only the gas tube that may need replaced with the correct one. Or if it is the correct one it is only the gas tube that you bend to get alignment, not the gas key.

Bending the gas key won't end so well.

FYI, I just put a McGowen barrel on my BCL build... Rifle length AR15 gas tube... fit perfectly without any interference with my gas key.

Check length and location of the gas tube and go from there.

That may be the problem. I put a AR-10 Rifle length gas tube on it. I should try a AR-15 Rifle length. Thanks guys.
