Anyone have an idea why my bullets points are marking my upper receiver jyst below the feed ramps like this? I have ri the rifle with xcr m mags and pmags so I dont know if its magazine related. Roinds were xm80, norinco, hertenberger, aguila.

(please dont reply that the bullet tips are not hitting the feed ramps correctly... thats not how a magazine fed semi auto rifle works, the bullets are never supposed to touch the feed ramps)

Rifle runs fine.

BCG is pushing the next round forward. while loading.

Check the bottom of the BCG for unusual wear. Check Mag catch for unusual wear as well.

Since these are so out of spec its hard to pinpoint what part is to blame.

do you think its due to the xcr mags? It seems to go into battery slower than when i load with pmags, as if something is dragging. Could be the next round being picked up and pushed into the receiver...

Should I get a JP bcg? I heard someone say they have more clearance on the bottom therefore less issues with xcr mags, but the iriginal gas tube was an issue and needed to be changed. If si what gas tube should I get? Also is this an ar15 gas tube or is it an ar10 gas tube (if there is any such thing...)

It’s the XCR mags. I had the same thing happen to my Gen 1. Insert a Pmag, and then a XCR mag in the lower with the upper off. You will see how the mags sit in the mag well and the difference. The Pmags will align the rounds a little better towards the feed ramps, also they sit a little differently in the lower. Be thankful you didn’t get a big gauge from the XCR mag along the bottom just below the two divits like I did.

BWT, it is an AR-15 gas tube. ArmaLite and Fulton armoires make AR-10 gas tube. But check you mags first.

I discovered the same thing happening with my gen3. The bullet tips are slamming into the upper just below the feed ramps creating those dimples. Did you figure out what exactly is causing it? Was it the xcr mags?

having yet to fire a round out of my stag(waiting on parts), but having both style mags infront of me I can see where the pistol mags will allow this to happen vs the p mags as the cutout is lower on the xcr mags. Anyone have the lancer mags?
