After patiently awaiting these previously announced 20 round NON AR15 FITTING magazines at 35.00 each, I am really impressed!!
All other 5.56 bolt action rifles that can only use AR15 magazines, are completely dependent on our Government with their misinformed laws and the main focus being AR15s, hopefully never AR15 magazines. If by chance they prohibit AR15 magazines, all those bolt action rifles will be in a very awkward place concerning loading cartridges.
By taking into consideration both the magazine and the ribbed mag well design of the Bison, this has resulted in a far better solution than any other bolt action rifle I have handled that solely use AR magazines. It is very obvious much thought went into this unique design of a magazine. The magazine as expected loaded, fed, and cycled smoothly. The material chosen seems very robust, being able to use different calibres in the magazine as you change barrels or swap between different MRX platforms is genius.
So to sum it up, BCL has really thought out this platform very well, being the only rifle I know of that has the option to use AR and proprietary magazines, never mind cool looking 20 rounders! The option to have two magazines holding 40 rounds as opposed to numerous five and ten round magazines in the field is a no brainer.
Really loving this platform, and it's well thought out long term options. It did take some time to find a load it likes but this little rifle has quickly become our favorite plinker. I was originally looking at a new metal stock for my .223 bolt action rifle, but it was actually less for the Bison than the tactical stock I was considering, can never have too many fun handy bolt actions.
Saw a very nice all metal compact bolt action with a sliding stock at the gun show that looked incredible, but it was $3000.00 and did not have a 20 round magazine option.
I see many other designs of firearms that will incorporate these magazines in the future, it is obvious BCL are positioning themselves for the long haul.
Well done BCL!
