BCL Px19 foxbat did anyone who ordered got it?

Just for ####s and giggles filed a warranty request with BCL almost a week ago. No reply so far.
Based on my past experience with the nitride-treated barrels - I will need to grind top few microns of hardened steel using stone, otherwise the reamer just slips and does not bite into the treated metal

WOW!

How shameful of Rob and BCL!.....:(

You can bet they know about these issues and the reports from this forum. Very sad indeed......:(

This just solidifies my ideas and experience with Black Creek Lab products. Junk products with no warranty concerns being taken seriously.

A great way to absolutely destroy ones reputation. I'm glad I took a loss on my BCL Siberian and saved myself the headaches.

Potential upcoming customers of their product will be fore-warned........:(

Hi all; for those curious about the solution, here is my way of making it work:
I tried to ream out the chamber properly, but as expected, metal appears to be nitride-treated, so even a good reamer did not leave a scratch on the surface. The reamer also showed that the barrel definitely was short-chambered. Ultimately, I ended up using an empty casing + drill + broken screw extractor + valve lapping compound. It took less than 30 seconds of lapping. All works fine now, looking forward to a range test. May still need to polish the chamber, but will see.

Was this the Shadow Systems barrel that was included with the Foxbat?
Shadow Systems has a pretty good warranty program, I'm sure they would have sent you a new barrel if you explained the issues.

Hope fully your soultion works out well.

Yes, the stock barrel by SS. I guess I could try, but I always feel awkward going to the US for the warranty service. Long wait, legally questionable re-export of barrels to the US (if they ask to send the old one back), plus the fact that the barrel was bought not from them. Maybe I am overthinking. Colonial Cdn govt made our country a step child to the US market, got tired of it. But thank you for participating and for your take!

There was another member here who had their SS frame split. They had filed a claim and SS sent them a new frame and it was registered with the RCMP. The member was able to keep the original frame. I know this casue that frame was transfered to me. He stated that the process was quite easy and SS was a pleasure to deal with.
I think in this case it would be worth dropping them a line if your solution does not work out.

A Dingbat has left its cave. Hahaha, oh man, can't wait to read all about the disappointment this thing will be.

Get back in here, Dingbat disappointment updates just dropped, people who trusted BCL are now realizing why BCL is so hated in the gun community for the non existent QC, sub par materials and untrained gorilla machining skills

Their machining is very good, imho. It is the QC that is suffering. Out of the three different type of guns I bought new, only one functioned properly out of the box, which makes me think they skip the firing tests entirely. And both times, it was the barrel sulpliers' fault - barrels were out of spec. And somehow, I am still not angry at them at all, as their guns are quite nice, once you make them function well 😄

Years ago I purchased a BCL AR lower, the receiver was over bored for all the holes by at least 1 mm. Trigger pins and safety selector would rattle, no drilled hole for bolt catch roll pin. The store was gracious enough to offer to swap it out, plus the paperwork hassle, Evert single BCL receiver they had on the shelf was the exact same issue. He took it back and gave me store credit that I spent on an AERO.

Couple months later I tried to give them another chance, different local store, the receiver this time had no threads on the buffer tube, which I spotted prior to purchase, checking the others we noticed some of them didn't even have takedown pins detent holes drilled in. I've built just shy under 30 ARs and maybe two dozen "Not an AR's" like the ATRS/SLR, for myself or friends/colleagues. not once have I had a good experience with BCL

That alone was enough to not ever purchase BCL again. I have heard horror stories from others too. friends don't let friends buy BCL.

I have quite the opposite experience with them. But it may be because I built a few dozen ARs using the NEA lowers that SFRC had on for like $40 when they were switched to BCL. All of the lowers I bought and sold were really good.

And now they make excellent paperweights

I don’t have the BCL handgun so I can’t comment on that platform.
I do have a BCL Bronco Howitzer.
Every question i have asked them has been answered promptly and professionally.
I had an issue with light primer strikes and they handled that promptly also.
They arranged shipping and the gun was back to me in a week. Delivered right to me.

Light primer strikes have been haunting them since the Bison came out. They had few years to sort that out, but hey, kudos to their CS.
I had to tweak my firing pin for the Bison using lathe, to make it protrude further, as none of their warranty fixes worked.

I’m still trying to see the best in my decision to commit to one of these. I have run a few mags through mine with minimal success. I didn’t run it the way it came out of the box because I had some gripes with some of the choices made regarding parts. I may have assumed incorrectly that the point of a metal Glock was to avoid the use of polymer where possible. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with OEM guide rods, but based on the availability and cost of buying in bulk to keep costs down, it seemed like it would have been an easy call to put stainless guide rods in the PX19 from the start. I didn’t help myself by replacing certain parts before testing to verify a baseline of functionality and have since reverted back to the way the pistol came when new with the exception of the guide rod. I am still working the bugs out, mainly related to the magazine and feeding. I have not used OEM Glock mags in it yet, just Magpul which have been reliable in the past in other 19’s and 17’s that I own. When I would fire the pistol the slide would lock back and fail to feed the following rounds similar to the mag being empty with the last round hold open. I will update after additional testing to determine if this is an error on my end or the pistol.

Regardless of how well the pistol does or does not function, I have determined that there is probably good reason why these type of frames aren’t more common. It was appreciated to have the option of the pistol coming in other colors than black added at no cost, but it has been a bit of a pain. Mine came in the FDE cerakote and it looks great, but average wear and tear when handling any pistol doesn’t bode well for this setup. With roughly 100 rounds through it, there was already scuffs and scratches through the coating that make it hard to enjoy shooting any further. I don’t have any intentions of babying the pistol and treating it like something more than it is based on the rarity and low production numbers. It is what it is, nothing particularly special in my mind.

In all honesty my PX19 has spent most of its life as a stripped down frame stored in my safe, I have had better value in utilizing the slide and barrel on other pistols. Not exactly what I was planning for when purchasing because I could have purchased a top of the line slide and barrel for half of what this pistol cost.

I think my biggest frustration still is the optics cut. If you look on BCL’s website they have pictures of the pistol with an optic mounted but they have not released an optic mounting plate for anyone to purchase. I have spoken to BCL multiple times through email and in person at Taccom about this and it doesn’t sound like it is a high priority. From what I have been told it is a proprietary cut which is frustrating.

I have owned several BCL firearms and had great support and success with their products aside from this. I had a Bison that I purchased used and when I reached out to BCL about it they transferred any warranty and support that was set up for the original owner over to my name which was appreciated and they even sent a spare parts kit full of great items to have on hand if any issues occurred. They also sent a spare Bison magazine at no charge which I was super grateful for. I also own a SRV2 and was aware of the possible quirks they can have before purchasing. I went over the entire rifle before using the first time and any of the potential issues appeared to have been addressed. I have had 100% reliability with my SRV2, it has never had a FTF or FTE and has not come loose in any of the areas it can be prone to.

I have gotten to a place of just accepting what is. I want more Canadian manufacturers as I am sure many others do, it can be a hard market to succeed in for obvious reasons. That does not mean anyone needs to be blindly faithful to any product or OEM just for the sake of supporting local, so I believe it is important to be honest about the results we have in hopes it can lead to greater success for the OEM and consumer. At Taccom 2024 they had the new SRV2 Grizzly on display which I was aware was in development. I can appreciate the need to balance supporting existing products while producing new ones but it does feel like there is more emphasis on moving on from the PX19 and leaving it in our hands to figure out things like the optics mount.

I always aim to take to good with the bad and look for a silver lining and I can say with honesty I have had excellent experiences with BCL’s support team, that doesn’t offset the poor experiences others have had and I think it’s important to have both sides providing input for all of us to be educated when looking to invest in our hobby to the extent many of us do. If anyone else has input on their experiences or ways they have been able to achieve greater success with the PX19 I am certainly all ears and happy to discuss.

Thanks for reading my novel of a post. Stay safe and keep the muzzle pointed down range. Cheers

Yup. It was/is a known issue.
Funny thing was it didn’t happen until a couple hundred rnds in.
We’ll see over time if their repair is effective.
Can’t fault their service thus far.
