BCL Siberian 3000 rounds so far...

another 100 rounds through mine today. Norinco yellow box. Zero problems 2.5 MOA ish

The only problem I have had is with the trigger pin backing out. I lock tighted it in and no problems since.

I do have an update- sort of. Around 3500 rounds the bolt started locking back somewhat consistently. I contacted BCL and they asked for pics, suggested the ambi bolt release was bent and sent a new one. Somehow that got lost in the mail and I waited a few weeks and asked for another which showed up promptly. A couple of days ago the original one showed up!

I was pretty busy with a bunch of other things and since I didn't really *need* the rifle I only just got around to actually replacing the part. When I removed the old one it was indeed bent- actually cracked and it easily broke after removal.

I have not got around to testing the repair as of yet. So far I think I am in agreement with others that have said that the ambi bolt release is a weak spot and unnecessary. I really never used it and I think it got bent/broken just due to rough handling. If there was an easy way to delete it I would do so.
 
Yup, CFET covered this and other major issues with the rifle, in particular the bolt release issue which was replaced twice during the 4000 rounds and the gun needed a 3rd warranty trip by the end of the 4000 rounds they put through it before stopping.

Only ran 100 rounds through it after replacing the part but all went well. Probably go another 100 rounds on the weekend but since the summer has come and gone it will take me awhile to get all the way to 5000 rounds now.
 
Your objective opinion is always appreciated Gatehouse, I have no doubt you put some serious rounds through your range guns.
Nothing compares to the data gained from just putting lots of lead downrange over a period of time.

One of the reasons I bought into the Ruger Ranch was from your experience, and I now have one particular Gen 1 coming up on 4000 trouble-free rounds.

4000 rounds- great to hear! Only (somewhat) weak points on those rifles is the extractor and the bolt release. Maybe in another 4000 + rounds opr so you may experience a failure with one of those parts. Maybe. :)

If it´s the case that the extractor and bolt release are the only weak points then why did BCL change the gas block and the stock and not those items for the most recent model?
 
Another 200 rounds today from the Siberian. No problems so the new part seems to be working well. And I have a spare part now too in case it’s needed in the future (probably will be needed actually) :)
 
I own a Siberian as well and am in the 500 round range myself. No issues at all thus far, like the OP I don't beat the livin" sh*t outta mine and use it like the average shooter likely would. When I bought mine, before I fired a shot, I changed out the trigger for a trigger tech single stage 3lb trigger, and I lock-tited the gas tube and all external screws. My Siberian has been flawless and I can say that I am impressed with it. I am not going to the hills of Afganistan, or the deserts of Iraq, thus I dont feel the need to torture test the gun. I think the gun is worth it, I have no intentions of selling mine.
As for mags, I have only used USGI metal mags and Magpul gen2 polymer mags, both have been flawless with no feeding issues.
 
So the ambi release was warranty which is great. It is the same as a ar15 ambi release right? Can a better one be put on to extend the reliability? Or is it something the gun is doing that breaks it as opposed to an ar

Same idea as a AR15 ambi release but doesn't look interchangeable. The BCL one is flimsy, it basically snapped as I removed the old one.
 
Haven't been to the range much as of late but was there a couple of times in the last few days but at least the Siberian is now close to 4000 rounds and no problems since replacing the ambi release. It looks like their new version (The Badger?) deletes the ambi and I think that's a good idea.
