BCL Siberian 3000 rounds so far...

It’s a very nice looking carbine. I’ve only hesitated due to some of the reports along with disassembling.

With regards to the shell rotella t6 0w40. I drench the firearm in G96, even wipe some on the outside to help protect the exterior finish. Let soak and then add the oil to the high wear points on the carrier group. Carrier tracks in the action etc. G96 is definitely the real magic. Cut my cleaning time significantly.

Epoxy I always take your posts in high regard because you seem to know what you are talking about. Correct me if I am wrong Laugh2

Just re-read your post about the 0w40 synthetic- You only use a bit of it, mostly use the G96?
I buy G96 by the case, like I said, we call it magic juice. Sometimes when a gun is having problems, it just needs a squirt of the magic juice to get it up and running again until we get a chance to really clean it! :)

Thank you for your post! Out of all of our options in this price range, I really want this one to pan out, personally. I look forward to seeing what the months ahead hold, and, maybe come the spring time or next summer, be in a place to pick one up.

Yup, soak it in G96 and only a bit of the 0W40 on the high wear points/High friction points. For example the bolt, receiver rails that the bolt rides on. This is on top of the G96 which has already been applied. The G96 is a metal conditioner and gets into the metal pours. Like seasoning a frying pan.,You’ll find the combo really makes bolts slick.

Another advantage to this combo over just straight G96, is in sand/dirt/hot environments. It helps keep the grit from acting like sandpaper. The diesel oil also has a detergent in it which carbon seems to ball up and fall out. I just liked the slickness of the combo but found it to have a few other unexpected advantages.

In -50 I would stick with just G96. Shell rotella is fine in -30 but haven’t tested it colder for semi auto other than a few shots.which did work. I have shot straight G96 in a semi auto pistol at -50 and it functioned perfectly for the 4-5 rounds I put through it. Me not so much.

I’m only reporting on my experience with this individual rifle. Some people have had this rifle fail. But as i had said a few times- I’m using this rifle as most people use them, I’m not going to cover it in mud or do a “burn down”

Frankly, IMHO the most durable semi rifle that is legal in Canada today is the X95. I have 3 of them and they are no schist TANKS.

BUT if nothing fails on this Siberian… 5000 rounds by end of August. Which is more than most people will ever get through

Still think they should re-think the handguard

Thanks Epoxy. I’m going to go to NAPA tomorrow and see if they have it.

If they don’t have it, Canadian tire carries it. Go for the T6 shell roteilla 0W40. There is a 0W40 , T5 I think that is a partial synthetic. You want the full.

Thanks! Small town closest CT is 90 minute drive haha. I will see what local NAPA has and go from there !

I have no doubt about the efficacy of the X95. They are recommended everywhere and everyone loves them.

Personally, for 3k, I wouldn't want that, but I have no quarrel with those that do. I, personally, simply don't.

I had 2 lock backs with ammo still in the magazine today. Both with the same MFT magazine. No problems with the Cross Magazines I used today though. So maybe it's that magazine?

PS as a retired chef I sure in

If you can’t find any, send me a PM. I’ll contribute a small bottle for your project. I appreciate the forum contribution.

Hit 3000 rounds today. Had one lock back with a cross mag yesterday and 2 with the same MFT mag today. Some of my cross mags are starting to crack at the rear these days so I really should have looked to see if that was one of the cracked ones but didn't think to look until too late.

Still haven't actually cleaned the rifle, either. And I got some of the 0w40 from NAPA :)

Another 200 rounds today and the G96 seems to have worked because no light strikes or problems. I will pop it open and give it a quick clean, see what is up. One of the things I love about the 180's compared to AR15's is how clean they stay. The DI system works great but they sure get messy

Sorry I don't have any dramatic reports of massive failures, but that could come along, I suppose. Just don't ask me for burn down or mud tests. :)
How many rounds do you think you’ve got through it now? And have you noticed any change in accuracy? I picked a Siberian up earlier this year and have only run about 500 rounds through it so far and it hasn’t skipped a beat yet!
