I just want to make sure I have this correct. You two think that having to call up BCL to have them send me out a new dust cover to replace the one that is too small which comes as a "feature" that is complete BS to anyone who actually has any training on an AR.. is somehow reasonable? Now let's add that said rifle will be delivered likely by end of February at the earliest. So it hasn't even been made yet. Never mind the fun prospect of dissembling the BCL 102 to change out that dust cover as an after thought later on. Hmmm wouldn't getting this done during assembly be a lot easier? Oh wait, he provided the answer on this page. Here's a tip, the answer wasn't particularly practical and there should be a better answer/solution.
All the arguments and counter arguments in this thread are really confusing.
It is by design a value add feature? But also considered an issue that they will rectify if complained?
There are no QC issues because it’s design intent? Or there are QC issues but only because this company hasn’t been making guns for decades?
It isn't ideal, BCL seems to have rushed it's "gen 2" gun to market to meet the very high demand. I ordered mine in August because I missed the first presale that sold out in the time it took me to make a 2.5 hr drive. To be honest I'd have preferred to receive the rifle I thought I bought (the gen 1 with no ambi anything and no big lug behind the handguard) but I've got a gen 2, and minor dust cover issue aside, it's a great gun. I could have lived with shoving a spacer on the dust cover hinge pin, but BCL has apparently agreed to make some covers that will fit with no play for those of us who want them. Maybe they will even stop using the sloppy covers since lots of people seem to dislike them, and you could get a gun with a snug fitting cover.
(Post gets stupid here) But to expect them to specially make you one is unrealistic. Doing it during assembly would certainly be easier for you, but do you really think they have guns selected for customers as they're building them? oh, heres rifle number BCL102000265 for Expoxy7, make sure you get that good dust cover on it..... no. They're going to build them with the parts they have and if you choose to change the one you receive, they'll give you a new cover. I think that's fair enough. Personally, I think they should etch DANIMAL on all the snug fitting covers since I brought this issue to light, but they're not gonna do that either lol
As far as your complaint of disassembling the rifle to change out the dust cover, its a few screws to take off the handguard and a circlip to pull the hinge pin out. swapping the cover should take no more than 15 mins. I spent more time than that taking it apart and checking it out when I got it home.

Having almost exclusively failure to eject cleanly. Have tried atleast five different loads and two different mags.
Bolt holds back 100% on a single round. Rounds are either stovepiping or some entirely facing backwards and trying to feed in fresh with old still sitting there.
Have disassembled, cleaned and lubed the bolt, extractor, ejector, cam pin, firing pin, gas block etc.
Approx 50+ rounds through it thus far with only maybe half a dozen cycling correctly and picking up/loading next round.
Dust port cover does not latch and stay closed.
Gun shows promise of accuracy but have only been offhand shooting at 40yds thus far.
Am I the only one with a Friday afternoon build? Just my luck.
All you guys lamenting about how your "Gen 2 or Gen 3" will have the bugs all worked out have had me chuckling for months. You got aesthetics and free microwaves with your gen 2 purchase (ambi).
I've lost a lot of respect for CGN and many of its dominant users as I've sifted through posts of their complaints, issues with match chambers, surface finishes on aesthetic spots inside bcg or external barrel etc on what our market considers a "bargain rifle". Only to later read "haven't shot it yet" or find they don't even possess one.
