BCL102 dust cover issue

I've lost a lot of respect for CGN and many of its dominant users as I've sifted through posts of their complaints, issues with match chambers, surface finishes on aesthetic spots inside bcg or external barrel etc on what our market considers a "bargain rifle". Only to later read "haven't shot it yet" or find they don't even possess one.

The interwebz is full of clucking chickens.

Couldn't agree more.....reason why I have stayed away from this forum for the most part over the years. ( had an account for 10 years but couldn't remember log in once so started a new one) poke my head in just long enough to get frustrated with the children, then stop coming for a year or so again.

I posted on 8/26/17:

Having almost exclusively failure to eject cleanly. Have tried atleast five different loads and two different mags.
Bolt holds back 100% on a single round. Rounds are either stovepiping or some entirely facing backwards and trying to feed in fresh with old still sitting there.
Have disassembled, cleaned and lubed the bolt, extractor, ejector, cam pin, firing pin, gas block etc.

Approx 50+ rounds through it thus far with only maybe half a dozen cycling correctly and picking up/loading next round.
Dust port cover does not latch and stay closed.

Gun shows promise of accuracy but have only been offhand shooting at 40yds thus far.

Am I the only one with a Friday afternoon build? Just my luck.

All you guys lamenting about how your "Gen 2 or Gen 3" will have the bugs all worked out have had me chuckling for months. You got aesthetics and free microwaves with your gen 2 purchase (ambi).

That is one from the first batch, have you contacted BCL to get it resolved?

"Dust cover does not latch and stay closed" is pretty vague. Could be as simple as a weak detent spring. Before this I had not seen anything about the dust covers being too small and requiring precise positioning to latch.
Did you ever sort out your ejection problem? Sounds like it could have been a bad extractor.

I have the typical front to back slop you guys do on cover. The port can be seen behind the cover slightly if its not centred but since clamping the rolled portion tighter on the pin it generally stays latched just fine and keeps itself centred. I can no longer do the push it forward and open it selling "feature".

Ejection issues on my gun were caused by too fast of cycling. I added a bit of buffer weight and an adjustable gas block and haven't had any significant issues in that dept since.
All the components have to work together in harmony, so while the ejector worked fine for weak handloads, normal handloads (not excesive pressure handloads) required cycling speeds to be slowed a bit to allow it to do its job without overcoming the extractor.

Ryan,

I have not, just fixed my issues myself. Not interested in significant downtime shipping back and forth and dealing with them for stuff I can resolve.
I did speak with you when I first got the rifle and you helped me with a replacement BCG in a very timely manner to help try and sort my issues.
For that I am thankful sir. (I don't know how you haven't closed you account on here yet dealing with the pleebs; I'd be up on charges for sure by now).

If I have any issues that I cannot live with or resolve I will most certainly contact BCL. For now, I'm just trying to shoot it as much as possible and enjoy it. Around the 700rd mark now and still love it for what it is.

Excellent. If yo have any other issues let us or BCL know. Doug at BCL is great to deal with.

Aye,

my Gen 2 dust cover is approx 3mm too 'short' and moves around. The seal isn't complete.

I guess this picture represents the current state of gen2 receivers/dust covers.

Lol.. it seems to work, look at all that dust *outside* the rifle! :)

Looks like Chinese manufacturing quality! OOOOH a bit harsh I know :)

I just recieved mine this week and not only is the ejection port cover out of spec but it is bent out of shape and will not close at all. I will have to take it off and see if I can get the bend out of it. The firing pin retaining pin is pooched as well. So right out of the box I get to see how the warranty works.

It looked ok on the first pass, I stripped it and cleaned it but didn't really look at the flutes. Will look tomorrow and let you know.

Lol a dust cover that pops open if your rifle gets bumped, great "feature"
so if you were to trip and fall or something, the feature that's supposed to keep the dirt and mud out of your gun pops open so you have to spend the next 20 mins cleaning mud out of the action. Boy oh boy what a good feature

My rifle that showed up last week has a perfectly fine fitting dust cover that does not pop open, it also looks good and besides a slightly off index muzzle brake and a stiff charging handle seems flawless
