BCL102 Range Review, SECOND RANGE TRIP POST 123!!!

Hey S3xspert11

check out this link post #7. https://canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1617127-NEA-BCL-warranty

I had a bunch of gas issues with mine. I sent it back to BCL. Cost me more than the part they replaced was worth. Get yourself a new gas ring for your bolt. It should solve the gas issue WRT not ejecting and getting stoppages. It is not the mag, it is a gas issue.

awesome thanks for the reply, why does the gas ring have so much to do with it? however im not a AR guy so I do not know mechanics that well
Im glad someone else experienced this. and for the prices of a new gas ring online hardly seems worth spending 30$ to send it back.

I found this online not sure if this will work or not
link broke->

Found this in the description:

"The JPEGR-308 is not compatible with large-frame Armalite bolt assemblies."

I have no idea what the BCL102 bolt assembly is like though.

The description of the JP carrier:

"Compatibility

This notice pertains to any rifle based on the large-format AR-10-type or LR-308 platform typically chambered in .308 Winchester, 7.62x51 NATO or other cartridges requiring the longer magazine format.

Be aware that these receiver platforms are not standardized like the AR-15/M16 platform for which most parts are cross-compatible. Before ordering accessories and parts for your large-format rifle, make sure the parts are compatible with your particular platform. This bolt carrier group is compatible only with the DPMS family of AR-10 products.

With the Armalite/Rock River family of large-frame receivers, this carrier can only be used as a complete bolt carrier assembly group with a DPMS-pattern bolt such as our .308 JP EnhancedBolt. Interchanging individual components will result in an unsafe configuration. Do not under any circumstances mix and match components between the platforms."

hmm.. guy will have to double check then for sure if this is dpms style. learning so much about this rifle and parts.
Im glad everyone is so helpful on here. BCL will have to come out with more info eventually for sure on the rifle, with complete specs list.
their warranty is great however I don't want to have to send it back for little things when most of the time a guy can order a couple parts
and be good as new.

So found a gas ring by luck in Edmonton, only place that had one was tier one armory, actually pretty sweet little shop. They had a 1 piece McFarland for $19
Im gonna throw er in and try it out this weekend.

Nea was quick to respond as well, they suggested it was the extractor possibly, when I said no its most likely the gas ring they offered to send me new ones.
however for the 20 McFarland one I think ill be alright for a while. worst case it dose not fix the issue and I send it away before hunting season... *sigh*
But I appreciate all the help here on the fourm.

Just throwing out an observation, especially seeing the moose thread.

I played with a few basic off the shelf rounds. Settled on one for further experimentation, for now. I have only been doing one shot groups, basically, considering for hunting, the first cold bore shot I would get. So far, with Federal Fusion 150 gr, i can nail a 1" square (in the square) every cold shot.

No bipod. Generally I roll up maybe my jacket or a blanket for support at the handguard. I try to keep around 100 yards consistently. Prone, or if I find a stump to support on, basically using what I have, where I have. 1-8x optic. I try to pull off a shot reasonably quickly, as what me presented as a hunting shot opportunity.

Been trying to basically get a shot a day off since I received the rifle, so varied weather conditions.

Technical and scientific - no. But as far as hunting goes, I have a round that seems to be giving me what I see as a "fill the freezer" shot.

Thanks for sharing. Great reminder. I often forget to put this into practice at the range. I'm really pumped for my BCL to show up in the mail in the near future. I have my assortment of hunting ammo for just this occasion. I even have some 168gr failsafe ammo to put in the mix.

A little bump, back from moose hunting...

Cheers
Jay

Paul's bull, I was second on scene & couldn't resist taking a pic of the BCL102 on the bull.

Scott's cow, I was second on scene again but this time I got the assist... Put her down with a headshot...
And before anyone says anything about my favourite hat donned for the pic, I had my hunters orange hat with me.

See... Chuckle

^^^ Looks like good times man. Congrats on a successful hunt. Oh yeah I almost forgot... the 102 looks awesome out in the bush where these kind of rifles truly belong
