I am not 100% on this one, but I think you can use AR-15 trigger groups in this rifle. Can someone else confirm that has more AR-15/AR-10 knowledge?
 
Some trigger manufactures specify the platforms their triggers are designed for. Most Geissele triggers specify that they fit both AR10/AR15. Tinmey has different triggers for AR10 and AR15.

I think the BLC102 is going to effectively torpedo MH and AR-10 sales in Canada - if it can prove out to be reliable and robust enough. Only time and use will tell. With two AR-10s in my safe, I am willing to wait for the initial hype to die down a bit, but looking forward to getting one eventually.

Come to think of it, Famae 542, Norinco M-305s, Springers, PAR308s - essentially most currently available .308s and specifically semi-autos are going to see market share dropped to this rifle.

Yeah, really.

Both seem to be great products so far, but are different from each other. Those that can't afford the MH can now get into the NR AR(ish) game for a reasonable price. Of course it's going to hurt sales of more expensive rifles that are very similar lol. It's 2k cheaper. More people are willing to take a risk on a $1700 gun vs a $3900.

This thing does not have a hunting weight barrel on it. It's an HBAR that weighs almost 9lbs. Throw a scope on it and you'll be close to 11lbs unloaded.

I remember tiriaq doing a test with one of their AR15 barrels using quality ammo and the results were incredibly mediocre. He deleted the thread after NEA decided to chime in with their usual helpful remarks.

For me to consider it for hunting, which is where I believe it would also excel, I'd like to see it drop a couple of pounds. I'm sure that it's doable but the costs don't make it currently worthwhile to me. Hopefully other profiles will be available in the future but NEA does seem to prefer heavier profiles for some reason.

I would like to check out a lighter barrel too, but ultimately I don't really care. I wouldn't take this rifle on a 10 day steep country hunt even if it was 8 lbs scoped. I would use this on day trips or when I'm walking logging roads and skidder tracks for spring bears, more as a fun novelty. It would probably be a great rifle for F250 spot and stalk hunting, too.

I've got 2 NEA 14.5" AR15's, they are accurate rifles, I would take them hunting no problem, if we were allowed to! :)

Those that haven't looked under the hood maybe. Once you look at the Ferrari and discover it's really a Pontiac Fiero with a body kit... Well that Corvette is starting to look pretty good!!

I'll be giving a NEA/BCL 102 a try once the IOP comes in. I can afford some of the other options, I'm just not interested.

Looking forward to more range reports. Perhaps with some other types of match ammo? I'm going to have to live vicariously for a while. Please keep the range reports coming!!

Hmmm, well I can afford one. I'm well into ARs and I've supported the shop in the past.
I'm not convinced it ever boiled down to 'can't afford' - I just couldn't be bothered.
i suspect there are plenty of people out there in a similar boat.

Someone new to the game or looking for a new .308 AR or semi auto? Can't fathom they'd try anything else.

So far only SFRC has them available for pre-order as far as I am aware... Some retailers got in on the first pre-order but haven't received rifles yet (plus they are all pre-sold anyways).

Your best bet is to get in on the SFRC pre-order. They are listed at $1750.

I can imagine that you could add XCR-M's to the list as well. That being said, who wouldn't be interested in some of those a/n rifles at a discounted price? I am still not sold on DI guns.

I used to not be a fan of DI guns, I was a piston guy. I now like both. A lot of the attributed downfalls of DI are BS. Look up AR-15 mud and sand tests against almost any other rifle and it comes out on top, why? Because it is a sealed system. Tight tolerances keep out the gunk. If I needed the most reliable .308 semi in Canada, I would however go with an XCR-M or 542. The advantage to the DI system is that you have less harmonic interference and it ends up being more accurate than most other systems. Having the ATRS MH for a time really changed my opinion on DI guns. The price point and the fact that it is Canadian manufactured is what really draws me to the BCL-102.

If you want to see mud and sand tests look up "In Range TV" on youtube.
 
I have seen the "In Range TV" tests. I would never claim that they were conclusive. I have used a C8 in slushy snow in about -5 degree environment and had a bugger of a time keeping it running, but I have also used it for a week in +30 heat on a sandy range where it was continually dirty and smokin' hot and it ran like a champ (except for the worn out magazines). I have also used an FNC1 countless times in very unforgiving environments and had it run splendidly. Am I saying one is better than the other? Nope - I am saying that there are a lot of variables and that I have more experience with piston driven guns and thus feel more comfortable with them. I still would not hesitate to use a DI gun, but if I am forking out the money, I would tend to lean to something else. I may still get one of these Bcl102's after time has had its opportunity to wear on them.
