Is replacement of the buffer tube required to install a magpul PRS ?

i have a prs gen 3 on mine and all i did was take a quarter inch off the tube.

You cut it off the threaded end of the tube? Did you have to re thread it after or are there enough threads? Or am i totally misunderstanding haha?
I cant find a Rifle Length Receiver Extension anywhere Where are some places to get them ?
