BCRA Tac rifle August 3rd Nanaimo

Nokomis is the SPRA 'long range' range (1000 yds), @180 SE of Saskatoon. Nice facilities - clubhouse, 6 target stands, and just a bit of wind and sun to go along with your day.

Oh yeah ... watch your step ... cow pies ...

Here is the course of fire. The event will be shot just like the championship, in two man teams. I have added a match at 400 as there isn't one in the CFSC course of fire and we had to eliminate the matches at 700, 800 and 900 due to the shorty range.

d. The time limit for the targets to travel from the centre of one bay to the centre of the next is 6 seconds. There is a minimum of 10 seconds between exposures;
e. Target exposures will be in random order for a total of 5 exposures in each direction. Targets will not fall when hit but continue for the entire exposure sequence;
f. The firer may fire more than one shot per exposure, to a total of 10 shots;
g. The firer must return to the standing alert position between exposures and remain so until the next exposure; and
h. On the completion of each match, an indicator will be placed in each shot hole and the target will be shown to the firer for the duration of the scoring procedure. Normal challenging procedures will be in effect. Target irregularities are restricted IAW para 5.07.12.c (moving targets).

3. Notes for the CRO/RSO:
a. One target position at each end of the firing line must be kept unoccupied to facilitate target movement in Match 601.
b. The firing relay is on the mound; the waiting relay is standing by;
c. The scoring relay is standing by and prepared to carry out scoring duties for both shooting relays;
d. All personnel on the firing point have hearing protection;
e. Ensure that competitors comply with match conditions;
f. Ensure that empty cases are picked up;
g. Ensure that RSOs deal with protests and challenges;
h. Ensure that RSOs unload and clear competitors when it is necessary to move them from the firing line; and
i. Ensure that scorecards are completed correctly, signed and handed in.

4. Suggested Fire Order for the RO:
a. "Relay 1 (2, 3 or 4) move onto the firing point";
b. "This is Match 601 - the 100 Yard Moving Targets – with no sighting shots and ten for score. Your 2 minute preparation period starts now." Ensure targets are up in the centre position;
c. Once preparation period has ended... "Relay 1 (2, 3 or 4) your preparation period has ended." Lower the targets;
d. "Relay 1 (2, 3 or 4) LOAD – READY.”;
e. “Adopt the standing alert position";
f. “Match 601 - Watch and shoot - Watch and shoot";
g. Order butts to start the match;
h. When match is complete... "Relay 1 (2, 3 or 4) – UNLOAD”;
i. “Prepare for inspection. RSOs clear all weapons";
j. "Are there any protests - are there any protests - are there any protests";
k. RSOs deal with protests and if any are upheld, prepare the firer for an immediate reshoot;
l. Once protests are dealt with and/or reshoots are complete... "There are no more protests";
m. " RSOs carry out scoring procedures";
n. Order butts to show all targets with shot indicators and relay scores to the firing points;
o. Once scoring is complete. “Are there any challenges? Are there any challenges? Are there any challenges”; and
p. Once challenges are complete, order butts to patch out all targets and prepare for the next match.

5. Notes for the CBO/BO:
a. One target position at each end of the butts must be kept unoccupied to facilitate target movement in Match 601.
b. Each target bay has a hand held Figure 11;
c. All previous shot holes have been patched;
d. Appropriate patching materials are in each target bay;
e. Appropriate target indicators are in each bay (ten small or medium shot indicators);
f. Markers are using the correct colour of patches to patch out shot holes (cream on cream and black on black);
g. Markers understand the correct marking procedure and the conduct of the match;
h. There are no sighting shots;
i. Targets are to be exposed in random order for a total of 5 exposures in each direction;
j. Targets must be moving when they are exposed over the butts. It is suggested that the target handlers line up one pace prior to the point of exposure (centre of the target bay) and when the command is given "targets - up" the target handler will begin walking and while moving expose the target at the appropriate place. The targets should be raised by using the “axe style” movement as follows: the target is initially slung over the handler’s shoulder and as the handler steps forward the target is swung to an upright position. At the completion of the target exposure, the target is brought straight down;
k. Target exposure times must be carefully regulated, with handlers independently speeding up or slowing down so that they smoothly cover the required distance in 6 seconds; and
l. The targets are NOT patched out until ordered to do so by the RO.

6. Suggested Words of Command for the Butts:
a. "Stand by your Figure 11 target for 10 X 6 second exposures";
b. “Moving to the right";
c. “Targets - up.” Six and one-half seconds later. “Down." Then, “Return to the centre position.” 10 to 20 seconds between exposures;
d. “Moving to the left";
e. “Targets - up.” Six and one-half seconds later. “Down." Then, “Return to the centre position.” 10 to 20 seconds between exposures;
f. Target movement directions are given out randomly, for a total of 5 in each direction; and
g. The exposure time is to start when the last target is up. It is recommended that the exposure time be given one-half second longer than IAW match conditions. If a short exposure is accidentally given then the competitor will still get a proper 6 second exposure and will not have grounds for a reshoot. Exposures may be slightly longer than 6 seconds but never less than 6 seconds.

1. Specifications:

I will be taking part in the shoot and I am looking for a ride. Does anyone going over from the mainland have room for one in their vehicle? I will chip in for gas and ferry.
