BCRA Tactical Rifle Championship 2009

good first day, long long long. a bit hinky of a start, but once things got ironed out scoring wise, it went well. Pics should be up from people tomorrow night.

I don't know what you're talking about? :welcome:

congrats to all the shooters for another great championship. big thanks to all the sponsors, Ed Begg, Mike, John, everyone in the butts (is it one T or two T's?). Big big jealous congrats to J.P. as he walks away with the Timberwolf, bastard. He obviously deserved it as he and Ryan were pretty far ahead of the rest of us in points. Thanks also to my partner Ed for another stellar year of me carrying him through the match. :stirthepot2: also a big thanks to the guys who came to my house for the BBQ and didn't piss the wife off. Andrew, Craig and Ed for being good house guests (poor Andrew had to sleep in the dungeon, Craig in the book room, and Ed on the bondage bed).
looking forward to trying out my new 167gr Scenars from Hirsch. (thanks again).

Hey All,

Many thanks to Mike, Ed, etc., for another EXCELLENT Tac match. We always love attending this match, both for the great people competing, as well as a slick, difficult course of fire. As usual, it was a good mix of "pure precision", and oddball, improvised positions. This brought the best overall shooters to the top, congrats again to JP, Ryan, and Justin for some very impressive shooting! (I'm still nursing my wounds on that last 600m stage :D )

Looking forward to next year,

Darrell Buell

Just got back to Calgary this morning with Savage (thanks for driving Savage)... that was a long night and a fun shoot. Mike, Ed, etc... did a great job putting on the match as did all the shooters who showed up and made it even better by being there!

I'd also like to thank V-bull, Wolverine Supplies, and ICS for the cool prizes that we took home.

Thanks to Slavex for the team housing (disturbing as it can sometimes be ;) )

I also have to give a huge thanks to GrensVegter for being a great partner and for building the great rifles that we used. For us it all came down to a roll of the dice on the last match. The 600m "nut check" was our best match by a long shot, I still have a silly smile on my face thinking about it :D

A BIG Thank You to ALL the Sponsors of the match for making our prize table the best it has ever been!!!!

Please don't forget to E-mail/Call the sponsor whose prize you won and thank them for their support and generosity........These companies are helping build this match, and the more/better prizes there are, means more shooters will want to attend.;)

An Even bigger thanks to Mike, Big Ed, & John for setting up the match, running the match, and getting the sponsor support.....and Thanks to all those who helped by running the Butts, Pulling targets,& Doing the Scoring.

Rob, Hope your back isn't too sore from carrying me this year......;) .......If we start practicing now for next year.......:p

For those who haven't experienced "Hotel Fang", it's a great place to stay and hang out.......:D

My Personal Thanks to Paul From I.C.E. Tactical for the very cool and unique ACU shooting mat that I picked up .......I had my eye on that may up right from the start!!! .................and thx Johnny for giving me the OK to take it!!!!! :D

Mike,

I hope to head out with you and Brian (with Axel) this coming weekend here in Sask.
BTW, were are the results and weather report and who won the prizes in your match?

Brian won a new barrel(his choice of cal, twist, contour, etc), a chamber job (from Henry out of Calgary, but I think he traded that one for a chamber job from AC Douglas here in Sask). and 200 30 Cal 155 Lapua's this wekend at the Driller's.

I'm happy for him...

Yup pretty much the same from me...had a great time and many thanks to all the sponsors who put up some kick ass swag. I picked up a V-Bull data book and called Ed to thank him. My only complaint was the rain that was steady and a big pain in the ass...oh well. Now to practice for next year :D

I don't know what you're talking about?

Pictures dont lie focker LOL!

Big thank-you to the match organizers, sponsors and all those that won. Good to see everyone walk away with something regardless of where they placed.
Thanks again to Slavex for helping with my trigger that sh!t the bed on the movers.:bigHug: It helped me finish a crappy performance on a positive note.;)

well we came out to chillawack not knowing what to expect and all i can say is im HOOKED. i had an awsome time and it was great to meet so many wicked shooters. JP and RYAN my hat goes off to you boys for the clinic you put on this weekend.
HUGE THANKS to all the sponsors that support the event the prize table was awsome.
and thankyou to MIKE for all his hard work he put in to organize the event.
i cant wait until next year.

Congrats on another successful shoot to everybody. Even with the crap weather the turn-out was excellent. Kudos to Mike and the crew for putting on another top notch event.

Speaking on behalf of our two teams I know we can say we had a great time. It's always good to visit with people involved in the shooting sports. Guys like Stan and Darrell are fantastic to shoot beside and seeing that the knowledge is free flowing and easily shared is great and a testament to character.

We will be returning next year for sure.

One other thing........

One of the Regular attendees of the match passed away a little while ago (not exactly sure when) , and it was planned to say a few words in remembrance but in the shuffle of scoring/prizes, and people needing to catch ferries/flights, it was forgotten.....:slap:

Please take a minute to Remember Larry Hill
.......

Larry had been shooting this match for quite a while, and was always happy to bring out safety gear for the match, and give it to those who needed it..... He gave me several different pairs of Harley Davidson Safety glasses to add to my Harley Collection...:)

It was a sad day to hear that he had passed.......

But I know he was watching us having a great time on the range!!!!!!

That 600m CBS V-Bull I shot..........That's for you Larry.

R.I.P.

SKBY.

man in all the rush I totally forgot about that. damn, RIP Larry were and will be missed.

Alright well we need some idea as to who placed where.Top Civy, top mil,top police?Scores? How much practice am I going to need for next year? ;)

Lots! The skill of the shooters seems to be improving a lot to me.... Myself and GrensVegter pulled it out of the dumpster with a team score of 250 in the "nut check" :D If not for that we where just average.

Calgary police teams took first and second overall with some high scores, they will be tough to match. Myself and GrensVegter squeaked into the third place overall spot by one point, it was a close thing but we seem to be getting the team work thing down to fine if odd art... team MacGyver (ask Mike, we owe him some Pepto-Bismol for his pains ;) )

Speaking of which, not tormenting Mike but the team aspect, I think the match should be scored as a team only and not bother with the individual scores. We really worked it as a team and my score was better than my partners only because he was always on the line first and my spotting for him gave me an unfair advantage over him for the individual scores. If I was not spotting/correcting his shots on the "nut check" I never could have gotten the higher of the two scores. The movers also worked like that, we messed up his shots there, due to my crappy spotting on that stage but corrected it in time for my movers.
