Hello friends. I'm glad to see this great match is with us again. Looking forward to another great event.
I see that most of the issues that plagued previous events have been dealt with, but I would like to make an observation and a suggestion.
During the last 2-day event in 2010 (which our friend Longshot missed because he was busy winning major awards elsewhere) we managed to shoot 9 out of the proposed 11 courses of fire. That was using the old, very slow scoring system, which looks to now have been improved. My concern is that the proposed shooting/scoring system will be so improved that we will actually finish each days work too quickly. To address that I have a suggestion.
I would keep the proposed course of fire as it currently published, however, I would also be prepared to add on additional stages if time permits. My suggestion would be to keep the 300m stages that have been used in previous matches as backups, so that if on the first day we finished too early, we could just continue on at 300, or if on the second day we were too efficient we would again find ourselves at 300m.
My choices for those additional 300m stages would be:
F.I.B.U.A. ( Fighting in built up areas ) would be my first choice. This one stage, I believe, requires the most coordination between the shooter and spotter of any of the stages and is the one I would miss most.
Old School ( using a sling instead of a bipod ). In both 2010 and 2011 we dropped this stage because of time pressure. I think it would be nice to try fitting it in if we can.
I'm sure others can come up with suggestions for what they would like to see.
Again, I look forward to the match and expect this one to be well attended. Get the word out.
