BCRA Tactical Rifle rules and Course of Fire 2008

I guess Team666 better get our asses out and do some freakin practice.

Yes, we better.........................

As soon as the "Stick O' Death" gets back from Longshot I will be hitting the ranges.........................we also have to get out and try out my new rangerfinder....................

SKBY.

Just curious, for those of you who have tried it, how much luck do you figure I'll have seeing my reticle (and anything else) at night with a 6.5-20x50 non-ir leupold?

jesus Ian you are taking on a ton of stuff lately, wife pissed at you yet?

reading those rules makes me think of IPSC, but I am glad to see them spelled out so clearly. Not much room for argument on anything there.
are we still going to try and source new targets for each shooter this year, so all targets can be kept? or is that on the backburner till everything else is running smoothly?
I guess Team666 better get our asses out and do some freakin practice. I better find out what that TRG22 with folder weighs to see if I should even bother picking it up or just get a new green one?????????
Go wash your mouth out with gas.

sorry, but it's true. Rules have to be clear and concise and cover all possible aspects of stupidity, something we are very familiar with in IPSC.

It's okay, I understand. I was just grumpy this morning:D. We are trying to create a set of rules that will work nationally. The three western provinces have worked together to get to this point. It is esentially just a take off of the NSCC or CFSAC style rulebook written by Keith Cunningham.

it's a ####load of work I bet too. I like it. should remove some of the #####ing we've seen in the past, and gives a very clear picture for people to look at and understand what's expected of them.
I also like the rules about dry firing rifles and such. that's been irksome to me for a few years.

If we are going to strictly follow the spirit of military shooting then no handloads should be allowed - miltary production ammo in 223 and 308 could be issued on the firing point. The argument that F class shooters have an advantage isn`t correct if tactical class rifles are set-up properly with the right handloads. For the purists out there this should be the format.

Are you saying we should run production Portugese or South African ammo through our precision rigs???? It's the only military production ammo I know of available in Canada for the .308......Not in my rifle.

Maybe everybody should share one rifle with iron sights........for the purest out there!

Not meaning to be an antagonist but it opens up a whole can of worms.

I've been outshot by much cheaper rifles than mine, I firmly believe it is more about the shooter behind the bolt than the rifle or ammo. Have faith in your skills, shoot and have fun........for the Purest out there.;):D

Jess, I have sent you a PM asking if you needed any help making it out to the match and you responded in a condesending manner. I was fine with that and let it be.

You have continued to show interest in this match by posting in it's threads. I have thus recently sent a pm inquiring as to who you are and there was no response. Why is that?

I have nothing to hide and I am only here to improve this event and iron out any wrinkles to make it a friendly and welcoming event.

Are you a wrinkle?

No I am not a wrinkle. I am happy with the rules, the format of the match looks great, although I must say I would like the two gun option, but don't relish the thought of being escorted off the range for a caliber infraction. Depending on my work committments I am hoping to be able to make the match.

well since the types of ammo issued to current military and police is as wide and varied as what any of us would handload I have zero problem with people using handloads. Ammo is the one area that a person can save some money when it comes to shooting, but handloading. I can't build my own scope, action, barrel or any of that crap. and Federal also tried to match handloads when they developed their Gold Match ammo, so again, no big deal on the handload front. There are matches out there that require people to shoot issued ammo through issued guns, this isn't one of them. unless someone wants to cough up enough guns for everyone to shoot, and ammo too?

Yes you will have to be a BCRA member in order to shoot the match. Its an insurance thing. There is an associate membership that is $20 or $30 for all those guy that aren't CF/Police anymore and only want to shoot this one match. You should come out Brian its a fun weekend.

I thought I would put a post up after thinking about something.

In the past there has been people interested in shooting this match and they either don't have the gear or are too uncomfortable to just come out and shoot it.

I have a proposition for those people.

I need target markers for the match, the pay is $60 a day. If you want to see how the match is run in realtime and get a feel for how it all goes, this would be a good opportunity to check it out at the business end of the range.

PM me if you are interested.

Thanks,
Mike
