"Does government intend to continue to make decisions on wildlife management based on populism rather than based on science?"

Wonder if they will even get a response?

Cheers,
Nog

The Commie and Green coalition won't reply as they do not care...... like Mayor Moonbeam they see rainbows and unicorns and will bleed the taxpayers with a great money sucking vacuum pump.

We can only hope I suppose. Well written letter I thought.

But knowing the Fed and other lobby groups are maintaining pressure is good.

Now if similar letters were signed by each local gun/hunting club, guide and outfitters association, Trappers association, cattlemans association, Wild Sheep association, and perhaps the 10k or more resident hunters, and on a wild chance local MLA's or mayors support....then one would conclude a response would be forthcoming. The governments pitiful attempt to solicit public comment in the Griz survey was enough to choke us all towards concern.

My 2c.

We need a new choice in BC
Sadly the NDP and Greens are anti hunting and the liberals are habitat destroyers so the cards are stacked against us.

What do we do?

I do know this...... while she is a Liberal and I did not vote for her...... the federal MP for my area of the cariboo is Donna Barnett. I do not ever praise liberals but Donna Barnett is one of us. She supports hunting, she is not anti firearm, and she will most certainly not sit well seeing the businesses and residents of the cariboo region and the tourism it attracts by hunting and fishing.... all flushed down the toilet by the likes of these moronic BC provincial politicians.
None of them are qualified to be making these decsions.

start writing letters to Donna Barnett , I think we might get some traction there.

r...... the federal MP for my area of the cariboo is Donna Barnett.

Donna is a provincial MLA not a federal minister.

She a member of the opposition but she can raise #### when she wants to. That's OK because the Feds will not get involved in a provincial jurisdiction issue.

hmmm.... I thought she was a (conservative) federal liberal LOL I gotta pay more attention.
She's a firecracker though and she has already gone to bat for us here at the beginning of hunting season when the fires where winding down. She is certainly Pro firearm and Pro hunting from everything I have gathered so far. Her office is a few k down the road from me, maybe I'll pop in there.

More letters are needed however for now, I can tell you what the governments response will be, "Nope".

cheers,

At the beginning of the BC hunting season in Region 5, the government wanted to close all of region 5 and the northern MU's of region 3 to all hunting and all motor vehicles in the back country. If I can locate the 100 mile free press articles I'll try and post them. I went to the big meetings in Lone Butte and many of us vocally engaged Donna Barnett and asked her what was going on with the proposed closures. I'll repeat, I did not vote for this lady, and i'm not here posting this by any political motivation, I am not a liberal. BUT Donna's response , her address to those in attendance, and the message later posted in the 100 mile free press..... was that Donna Barnett stood up against the hunting and back country closures that were about to be imposed broadly across a vast area of the province that was not affected directly by the wildfires.

So ya, I do think engaging Donna is a good idea for what it is worth. She's a Cariboo gal and despite being a Liberal, she seems to be good people and good at being heard.

You got to remember the BC Liberals are not "Liberals" but rather the remnants of the old Social Credit party. I remember Donna when she was the mayor of 100 Mile House and as such sat on the Regional District board. A good number of the other board members referred to her as the 'Wicked Witch of the South" for her willingness to go to the mat with anyone who disagreed with her opinions. A very strong woman in a small package is that lady.

Absolutely. Organizations like the BCWF tend to be just a ripple in the pond if other like-minded organizations and groups don't also speak up.

Cool. If we're gonna have Liberals we could use more Liberals like her. Send her out to Ontario, we could use all the help we can get!

cheers,

wish our local org. was half of that.

There are some good people with the Yukon Fish & Game Association. Having only a small group of people working on a very large piece of work is a serious challenge for any small organization like that. BCWF is much larger, and it is still a huge undertaking.

Her personal involvement and action within our community during the wildfires pretty much cemented her already rock solid position in politics around these parts. She's not gonna tolerate stupid changes that affect the prosperity of our region that's for sure.

The only way we are ever going to get science based decision making on wildlife management in this pro in e is for ALL OF US , EVERY STININKING ONE OF US HUNTERS TO STOP BUYING TAGS, STOP BUYING LICENCES AND STOP HUNTING COMPLETELY . Think about it , the government uses our own money to manage wildife for us. Stick it to them where it will hurt them the most.
