so super quality they could not produce enough for the war

I don't have an original to compare it to, but it strips exactly like the real thing. The plastic stock looks like bakelite, but is obviously a more modern plastic. The mags are original dated 1940-1943. The gun also has all original type markings, and matching serial numbers on parts ( a nice touch).

From what I've read the stocks ARE real bakelite made on the original WW2 moulds - the company that made the stocks under subcontract back then is still in business today apparently.

Shot one of these at Blast off.............really nice,no recoil as they are bloody heavy..........and they fire from open bolt.which is neat and not common anymore.

That's a fantastic piece, will have to get it before the BD-44 because of the MP40's ubiquity and Parabellum cartridge.

I got to play around with one today. And these are indeed very very nice. The finish is excellent, and the bakelite looks incredible. Ive had to chance to play around with original mp40's and one mp38. And at no point while toying with the bd38 did it feel like a repro. If you have the cash, and if your on the fence, my humble opinion is to go for it, you will certainly be best pleased!

Hmmmmmmmm, you know, you people make it really difficult to save my money and just buy the cz I've been setting aside money for. Gah! If those were somehow magically non restricted they'd be a hoot to take out in the woods!

I had the opportunity to test-fire one a couple of weeks ago, this thing is all-metal, and heavy as hell, but still a neat little gun. Trigger pull is heavy but no creep that I could feel, the open bolt takes some getting used to as the center of gravity moves forward a fraction of a second before the gun fires, and because of the weight recoil is non-existant. I was able to hit a 100 yds gong once I figured out where to put the aim point, seems fairly accurate, I fired 10 rounds through her.

So, can we come by and take one for a spin???????

(edit to add) Also, are these considered 'pistols' with 10 round mags?

Had an opportunity to inspect a BD-38 today. VERY impressive. Per Sgt Stiker's request, I will refrain from answering his question.
