BDC or nikoplex?

I'm leaning strongly toward putting a nikon on my coyote rifle in .204 but have never used the BDC reticle.Looking for opinions on which you prefer (from those who've used them) I have the new prostaff 5 series in mind in either 3.5-14 or 4.5-18 in either 40 or 50 mm.Does the 50 mm offer any real advantage over the 40 mm?Thanks
 
Ive used the BDC and was not impressed, seems too busy, now my nikons have nikoplex reticles. I had a monarch 6-24x50 on a 223 and it was great glass I eventually went back to a 40mm objective, just nicer to handle and can fit tighter to the barrel. For a coyote rig I don't think you'll need a 50mm.

Thanks for the input.I'm thinking the 50mm would compromise cheek weld.
 
I have a buckmaster 6-18 with a target-dot on my 204. I prefer it to either the ones I have with BDC or the niko-plex and i prefer the niko-plex over the BDC because I find the crosshair on the bdc to thick.

Biggest thing I would add to this is with the BDC reticle, make SURE you head to our ballistic software to calibrate your gun/ load to the scope you own. Of course the reticle is matched to a specific load out of the factory but if you shoot something different it will adjust the yardage on the circles. We've got apps etc but if you want to play with it for free and just fiddle around with it, goto nikonhunting.com and follow the "Spot On" link. That will open up in your browser for free. It's got 5300 loads in center fire, rim fire, shotgun slug, black powder and will print out a handy chart of the yardages for the BDC reticle at every magnification. Not just maximum like most ballistic software.

Of course if you like the less busy plex, we've got that available in all of our scopes as well!
