Beach combing and deer hunting in July

We just returned from a family vacation to Haida Gwaii. It was a great trip and thought it might interest some here.
My wife got to beach comb to her hearts content. The first beach we pulled up to had a dead whale on it. It was approx. 50’ long. It was crazy to see a creature of that size, even if it was dead!
I got some good deer hunting action in on the backroads and overgrown trails. My 2 boys got to experience their first time being a part of a successful hunt. Also my father in-law got his first deer at age 65.
Lots of great memories made by all involved.

Spent a lot summer vacationing on the island in rennal sound fishing as it was as my preferred holiday. Have not made it there in past 3 yr now but plane to make it next yr of all goes well

I haven't hunted Haida Gwaii but I've been lucky enough to hunt Texada a few times. They've also got wee little deer. Tasty though!

Yes they are on the small side. 15-20lbs of finished meat each. The fact you can be in possession of 5 and an annual quota of 15 makes up for it. Nothing better than fresh deer steak and eggs for breakfast.

NICE !!!! Ya got me droolin here in NS for some fresh venison. Been to Masset a few times moving military families over. Saw lots of those mini deer over there...thought, jeepers, I'd need a dozen of them to feed the kids.
That was back when it used to be The Queen Charlottes
