Bead removal

Most of those are crimped in place and not readily removable. There is frequently a smooth circle at the base of the bead, this is the crimp.

If it is crimped, I'd recommend filing the bead flush then drilling and tapping a new hole behind the old bead.
 
Every bead I have ever taken off has been threaded, I just use a small set of vice grips and wind it out. Maybe that's changed on the newer models

yer newer one are pressed it and police ones are soldered on, highe rend vent and all wingmasters and threaded still

Its a vent rib and it doesnt seem to want to budge. I'm starting to get tool marks in it. Any ideas how to prevent tool marks?
