Caught a bit on the radio. The commentator was losing his mind over the poor bear.
Personally, I figure the money they spent hauling it around the countryside could have been better spent elsewhere.
Oh yeah. The local bear lady called the Grizz that used to live around here "Jewell". Somewhere out there, a "Jewell" is buried! LOL. Good riddance!

A bear that has a history of not being affraid of humans has been killed by a hunter and people are upset. What would the reaction be if they moved it again and it killed a lesbian muslim refugee liberal climatologist?
Buddy who is retired CO said black bear relocation has a good chance of success ( why bother given the numbers of black bears ??). Our conservation dollars are already stretched pretty thin and need to be utilized where they have the most benefit overall. Moving problem Grizzlies has an extremely low success rate. They travel huge distances and often head back where they came from. The people who live in remote coastal communities quietly blow away the relocated grizzlies as they find the nearest town to their relocation point and start up again looking for easy pickings. Not a fact the Walt Disney crowd may like to acknowledge but a fact none the less.

How do they even find out? If the hunter or guide posted it on social media then they deserve the negative publicity but if they just did the hunt and said nothing then someone monitoring the collar must have let it out? And the only reason for that would be to stir up controversy and bring an end to hunting grizzly bears. It seems public perception of radio collared wildlife makes those animals untouchable? They act like it's Paris Hilton's rhinestone collared chihuahua?!

The bear was doomed the instant it was relocated, just a PR exercise to make the Huggers feel good. See Calgary has a Grizzly they're relocating to Nordegg, enough Grizzlies already there with territorial claims, who won't welcome an interloper.

That's because Ontario MNRF no longer does trap and relocate, except in rare cases. If the bear is a threat to people it is left to police to deal with it.
Huffington post had an article about this, I posted comments twice which got deleted. I told them that had it killed the lady with the baby carriage or anyone on the rugby field everybody would want it turned into a rug. I guess I wasn't the bleeding heart they were looking for when responding to the article.
They would call a white guy with a gun to deal with it. Then they would resume blaming the colonial patriarchy for all the ills of the world
