Bear Attacks on Ontario

The incident occurred five kilometres from the spot where last week a bear fitting the same description

I think thats pretty funny.

But hey, maybe the reason I buy a bear tag this summer won't be due to the retarded calibre restrictions we have here, but because I might get a chance to harvest a bear!

These are trained professionals! Government officials! They can tell the difference!!! Just ask them, they will tell you!!!

My Nephew who lives outside of Wyebridge On. on a concession rd. off HWY 93, was taking garbage out to his shed a few nights ago and just about came face to face with a black bear that was scrounging around it. Smelled other garbage in there, obviously.
My Nephew has a pretty nasty back problem, but he said he ran back to the house the fastest he has run in quite a while!! He can't run, not in the last 3 yrs. Amazing what adrenalin and fear can do!
Before last year other family member that also live in that area say they haven't seen bear in 20 + years before that.

I just hope they keep moving south. The more bear in southern ontario the better. They might help control the "Urban Yuppie Re-connecting with Nature" population problem we have down here. I wonder if bear have a taste for designer jogging pants?

I say it everytime we get one of these threads.... bring the damn spring bear hunt back!

They are desperate for food and heading into populated areas to avoid starvation.

Also, what is the point of 'live trapping' a bear that you are going to give a lethal injection to? How about the "shoot it dead and grind up some bear burgers trap"

It is unfortunate because bears were at one time a game animal in Ontario. Now they are the SSS type animal. Bears found down south in their original range are shot or moved north to protect the public and the police come a running. Central to Northern Ontario you are on your own.
