Bear Bait has been hit (With Pics) 7 new pics added

Well baits been out for a couple weeks and was hit hard within the last couple days. My stupid trail camera battery died and i didnt get any pics. He did leave me a fresh pile of scat.

I replenished he bait and put out my good camera so i will have some pics within the week.

Anyone else having any luck?

Alright here are some pics. I re stocked the bait at 4pm yesterday and checked it again today. Its no monster but what size would you guess it at? I'm looking at my first bear with a bow from the ground blind. I must of messed up the time setting its not correct ill have to change it next time.

That is a smaller bear. I would keep the cam out for more pics. If there is 1, there will be others. From past experience, I've found that the smaller bears always come out earlier to get some food before the big bears show up. The smaller guys don't want to take a beating and grab an early bite and leave before trouble shows up.


SPRING BEAR HUNT IN ONTARIO, remember that?
 
not sure where you are, but the bigger bears generally come out in may/june.

Its not a bad bear, and would be a first good bear with a bow. Only you can decide if it is big enough & make a trophy for you.
 
Alright went put yesterday no bears but camera has tons of pics. Whats your thoughts on these guys any takers?

Shape of the face. It's pretty objective. Kind of like IDing a transvestite at the bar ;-) If you look at a few you can see that males tend to have more aggressive jawlines and brows due to the underlying muscle. The cheeks are also generally fattier. That's all relative though and it's very hard to tell with young bears. There are tons of male bears out there that look female and female bears that look male.

If that one gets taken, though, my $5 is on female.
