Bear Defence - BAD ADVICE ONLY

Play dead, bears will get confused and walk away. ( yes, someone actually told me that)

Many years ago, at my grandfathers farm, one of my cousins was being chased by an angry tom turkey (domestic turkey). My uncle told him to just lay down and play dead. I can tell you it works just as good on angry turkeys as it does on bears.

Just like my children, in calm soft voice tell it to please stop eating you.
If it doesn't listen the first time, tell it again.

If its still not listening, count to 3 then put the bear in a time out and tell it think about what it has done.

This is exactly how I discipline my children and it works amazing. I sure the results will be identical with a bear.

And by works amazing I mean, doesn't work at all...

Tell the bear you'll sue his ass in court!!

He'll be screwed because where is he going to find a lawyer??

Approach them and pat them. They are cute for a reason. When you rub their ears they love it so much they will leave you be in gratitude.

If you ever see a bear in the woods, immediately start flailing around on the ground and squeal like a dying rabbit. Even better if you actually have a predator call with you.

The bear will sense that you are trying to trick it, and will run off in fear.
