bear defence laws for a family man

Bears are the Canadian version of zombies... one of the few applications where most people not comfortable with guns will acknowledge at least a theoretical use for them.
 
When was the last time a marauding bear attacked a family? Do you have a better chance of contracting dengue fever?

If you are living with the chance of contracting dengue, chances are there isn't a bear around, but lions, dangerous snakes, buffalo, and hippo are a possibility. The last time someone here was attacked by a marauding bear was last summer, didn't work out so well for the bear.

Mossberg makes a new lever action rifle that would be perfect for bear defense. Or you could simply get a can of bear spray and learn how to use it (i.e. shoot an expired or inert can off sometime just to see how close you need to be). After all, you don't want to be seen with one of these:
