Bear Defense

I've been around griz a fair bit, had two checking me out, and maybe had my gun pointed at one 3 times, ready to shoot..
A friend of mine was doing some pine beetle research and he got swiped.

Another friend got swiped on the back tree planting...

For the longest time, I hiked and camped in the mountains with no bear spray and no gun,..

Was I lucky? Just ignorant of the bears? or did I just not have an encounter, because bear attacks aren't common?....one of them is right,..???

The first one counting is key, and if you miss, number two will be the last shot, if you can get it off, IMO

That was quick with the pump,..were you on target?

I'd like to see someone from this forum who is fast on a bolt, post a vid...

Well, its not the fastest and certainly not the best I've shot, but it makes for interesting practice for when targets race towards you . . .

The rifle is my .375 Ultra with 270 gr Hornadys at 2850 or so. The tricky part is tracking the target that began moving at 25 yards.

It's all about nerves, have you got what it takes?

That's a great idea with the target "running" at you. I gotta try that. :D

As for if I was on target with the pump, I dunno, I was shooting at the 50 yard berm with no target. (not allowed to shoot at the target stands with shot) I guess I should try it with slugs sometime to see, but if you watch the video closely, you can see my muzzle jump up a bit with each shot. I'm gonna have to work on keeping it down, especially with slugs.

I'll try again sometime with a target and slugs and I'll let you know. :)

Boomer

It seems you have quite a smooth action,...a lot faster the I couls cycle with a 375 ...and lot better control during cycling with staying on the target,

If I can get a chance to get out today I'll put up a vid..
