I was using a Maverick made by Mossberg and I was using federal 1 oz slugs and one just didn't want to pop out of the tube. It was weird after i managed to get it out all the others fed properly...

Maybe... you had a case of the fever and you short stroked the gun... I'm not being critical Riley... but I have seen it happen.

that is most likely what happened!
but ya I got my bear! It seems thought that allot of you do not like hunting with shotguns? I know that they are not that good at after about 50 yards away. but ya I had my 308 m-305 and my uncles 300 win mag as well but I really didn’t want this one getting away so I used the big boy:D

Congrats Riley!
Chances are you short stroked your follow up shot. Very easy to do in the heat of the moment. Not that it's ever happened to me....;)

Congrats on the bear man

Little more experience then you wont pre ejacula.......errrrr I mean short stroke your gun. Long, precise strokes work better than short and fast......so I have been told;)

Congrats on the bear. :)

My 1st black bear was 5' and i still made him into a rug.

Why?

Cause it was the first one i ever got. Don't worry about the size, better eating anyway. I have a nice cinamon color bear hide sitting in the freezer right now waiting to be dropped off at the tanners. :)

p.s.

Nice job going after a bear with a pump shotgun. I like hunting those things with my 300 win mag but close combat bear hutning must be cool. Good job again man.

Good job Riley - Island bears are fun to stock, you never know if they're acclimatized to people or not...keeps things interesting.

I was thinking about taking a 12ga for backup on my next hunt but now may just go for it if the circumstances are right...
